I don't believe the Pledge of Allegiance is a founding document.

It isn't. However if we all take the pledge of allegiance, then we are all pledging to not secede. If a state secedes, then it would be a matter of everyone in that state violating their pledge.

Personally, given the current state of the US government, I would love to be in a state that is independent from the rest of the US. But such a thing is not possible without another "civil" war. On the balance, it is better to fix the US govt we have than to go to war to secede from it.

Because you pledge allegiance to an entity, does that mean you surrender your right to withdraw that allegance? I think not.

“But such a thing is not possible without another “civil” war. On the balance, it is better to fix the US govt we have than to go to war to secede from it.”

As things stand now, I don’t believe there is any justification for secession or rebellion. If the people don;t like their government, they can vote the individuals running it out of office. But should that right be any way compromised or tainted, such actions would, in my mind, be justifiable.

Life under a tyrant can be a worse alternative than a Civil War.

I Pledged to the United States of America. I do NOT pledge to "the Socialist State of America that they are intent on converting us too". My Oath from the Marine Corps was to uphold and defend the Constitution, not uphold and defend a FedGov operating wholly outside it's mandate.

It isn't violating that pledge when the other Party, the FedGov, is no longer the same entity we all Pledged to in the first place.

I agree and disagree. First, you're right that it's better to fix the mess that our federal government has become - if possible. Second, secession is probably an option without a civil war. As much as Obama loves holding power over the little people, he is a sissy who would not actually fight against a strong state like Texas. He would let them go, without a war. Civil war is a question of the choices made by leaders on both sides, not an inevitability with secession.
