I hear what your'e saying, but it's not just about you. There are those who have had their money taken from their paychecks all their lives, in the name of their 'future security'. Many of those Americans will need that 'future security' to survive. I don't know what the answer is going to be, but anyone who is middle aged or older, and sees the abject selfishness of this present generation has much to worry about regarding getting back what they gave, both to Social Security and to America with their sweat and blood.

I totally agree. The real question is what to do with SS in the future. Stoping SS now would be the same as taking away everyones savings accounts at the banks. I have payed into SS all my life. I didn’t just donate it to help our government spend it anyway they wanted. The government not owes SS over $2 Trillion.

I very roughly estimate put in $20,000 into Soc. Sec, but probably got out $175,000 before she died. Is that right? It’s certainly NOT sustainable. That is the problem with entitlements. Everyone feels entitled - “I earned it.” I say NO - you didn’t earn it, or not at least anything close to it.

Don’t accuse a generation of “selfishness” when they don’t want to sink their money into a black hole of Govt to support unnamed “others.” The Govt is not a charity or a church, and if anyone is counting on them to be moral, or to support them in their dotage, they will be very disappointed.
