Evan's bye-bye a rebuke to Dems

WASHINGTON -- Having lived in the belly of the beast for much of his life, Evan Bayh has emerged -- soul apparently intact -- to testify about it.

What he witnessed convinced him that giving it all up and walking away was better than staying part of the criminal charade that is Congress today.

From when he was a boy of 8, his father was a senator.

Like many sons of senators, he grew up attending elite schools here. And until Evan Bayh was 26 years old, his father was a member of the most exclusive club on earth.

And for more than the past decade, Bayh has been a member of that same club, sitting in the very seat once held so long by his father.

He’d have to face Obama in the primary.
But if Obama loses in 2012, he might run in 2016

I agree. The man has politics in his blood and in his DNA. He is positioning himself as an outsider and independent. I wouldn't be surprised if he joined the tea party movement, or at least became visible within it, assuming it stays vital.

I think Evan Bayh was more afraid of winning his seat than losing it, and therefore exposing himself to further bribes and coercion to vote for measures that he believes will destroy this country.

“I think Evan Bayh was more afraid of winning his seat than losing it, and therefore exposing himself to further bribes and coercion to vote for measures that he believes will destroy this country.”

An interesting theory, but probably not so. With great relish did senator Bayh Humbug give myself and fellow Hoosiers the Christmas Eve present of Obama’s take over of healthcare. He was quite proud of this, both in person and in correspondance. What he did not like, was the outpouring of opposition, anger and venom directed at him because of those choices. He can pretend to be above the fray now, but more Hoosiers now see him for what he is... namely an ultra liberal Obama supporting socialist rather than the moderate that he pretends himself to be. The discontent for him is very high, even here in the Union stronghold of Northwest Indiana. I think his reelection would have been a very protracted and bitter fight, that he does not have the stomach for. That fight would have bloodied him badly and limited his further political options.
