This is a "bait and switch" scam.

It will never happen. 0bama0 is attempting to improve his sagging approval numbers.

Once he has McCain touting how good this is for the U.S., he'll forget about it.

Yes,
They have been erecting them in China for a while.
I can see obammy getting one in Georgia, let’s see one go in say N.Y. or Calif.
Yeah Right.

The loan guarantees are a defensive maneuver. Builders want security against the death of a thousand cuts imposed by the wackos before.

There is no cost problem with nucs except those forced purposely by wackos. If the government has a stake, there will be financial wacko protection.

If wackos demand that a door be revised, the work is done and then demand it be done differently, it is done and then they demand it be done differently there is no way costs can be estimated, much less controlled. Redesigning and rebuilding one door unrelated to anything nuclear killed the industry. One door was of course not a problem but carry the thought over the whole project and the costs are out of control.

The real solution is to exterminate wacko’s lawyers. No lawyers, no problems

I don’t understand why, if nuclear power is so profitable, that private companies need loan guarantees.

This isn't a loan guarantee. It's a payoff to unions. He was speaking to union "leaders". That's what frosts my ass. He's paying off unions with tax dollars left and right.

maybe we could build a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Plains, GA using “eminent domain” to take over the Carter farm

Best line of the day...Made my day anyway, thanks! Shape the entrance like an igloo and put a sign over it that says Jimmuh's Algore Waste Dump and I'll send money.

If the project goes forward, the reactors would be the first begun in the United States since the 1970s. At the same time, the president’s embrace of nuclear energy has drawn the ire of environmental groups that have long opposed any return to a reliance on nuclear power.
They aren't 'environmental groups', they're a bunch of Luddite Flat Earthers.

This isn't the '70's and like all technology Nuclear Plant Design and Safety has increased by the nth degree. What these wackos are doing is akin to opposing building any new Automobiles because their comparison model is one built in 1975.

These morons believe nothing has changed in 35 Years. 'Heck', when Nuke Plants weer being designed in the 1970's Engineers were still using Slide Rules for Pete's sake. Now how 'enlightened' (/s) is that of these groups.

Paging Jane Fonda. Please pick up the White Courtesy Phone.
Your shrink is holding on line two.

plus the nuclear plants actually “built” in the ‘70s had been designed long before — it’s probably more like 40-45 years since those designs?

1) an intelligent “green” should be strongly pro-nuclear power

2) virtually no “greens” are pro-nuclear power

ergo, virtually no “greens” are intelligent

[denial of the consequent as they say in logic — implies denial of the antecedent]
