Yahoo Sports Power Rankings

February 16, 2010
 Rankings
 Rank   Name   Comments
1: Jimmie Johnson In his four championship runs, J.J. has finished 31st, 27th, 39th and 1st, so no, the Daytona 500 doesn't mean much when it comes to winning titles.
2: Kevin Harvick Not a bad week coming off the flu – Bud Shootout win, leading the most laps in the Daytona 500. Now, if only the Richard Childress Racing guys can carry this success through Fontana.
3: Kurt Busch What were they thinking pitting with only a handful of laps remaining? It was clearly the wrong call and may have just cost KuBusch the Daytona 500.
4: Dale Earnhardt Jr. The 2010 Daytona 500 was about two car lengths from going from, like, totally geek to, like, totally chic. If Junior had won, Pothole would have been a national hero.
5: Greg Biffle The early indications are that Roush Fenway is better in 2010. But just like Harvick and the RCR boys, Fontana will be the ultimate indicator.
6: Clint Bowyer Maybe the most impressive drive of the 500. Bowyer should be at the top of everyone's list as the early dark horse pick to win the 2011 Daytona 500.
7: Jeff Gordon He will look at this race as one that got away. He had what he thought was the best car on the track, just couldn't get any help to get it to the front.
8: Jamie McMurray In case you haven't noticed, McMurray is a very good restrictor plate racer. He's now won the last two. Three of his four career Cup wins have come at Daytona and Talladega.
9: Mark Martin Good thing Martin started on the pole, otherwise we wouldn't have seen him all day. He was never a factor, which outside of McMurray winning was the surprise of the race.
10: Kyle Busch Very disappointing week for the entire Joe Gibbs Racing crew. The only shining moment was when KyBusch put a giant rock on his girlfriend's finger.
11: Martin Truex Jr. Here's an interesting note: Michael Waltrip Racing had more drivers in the top 10 (2) at Daytona than did Hendrick Motorsports.
12: Matt Kenseth Was the only Roush Fenway driver using the new Ford engine, and wound up eighth. What does this mean? Confidence in the new engine going forward.
Lucky Dog: AJ Allmendinger We pegged him as the dark horse of the race, and for 140 laps he made us look smart. Problem for Dinger continues to be finishing races without making a mistake.
DNF: Brad Keselowski His Daytona 500 debut lasted only nine laps before he found the wall. Just in front of him, Denny Hamlin was smiling.
