I have used Walmart quite a bit, too, for grocery shopping, and then go to some other grocery stores to fill in a few odds and ends.
But, I have noticed a big increase in the “white” Walmart brand that they seem to be really pushing hard at their stores. And I don’t necessarily think that all “house brands” are the equivalent of some of the name brands. The quality doesn’t always match up, even if the price is lower. It’s lower for a reason... LOL...
Anyway..., if they start pushing out a lot of other name brands, I think Walmart is going to start to lose a bunch of business in the process... sorry Walmart, but I’ll be looking at other stores, more now... that you’re trying to get rid of other quality products and replace them with no-name-brands (and yeah, “Walmart brand” is a no-name brand... :-) ...).
How many people really care where you shop?
The store brands don’t have to pay for the advertising that name brands do and that is where the savings are found. Walmart and Kroger brands are usually always very comparable to the name brands they are next to on the shelf. It is definitely worth the savings. Kroger even give’s a 10% discount to seniors who use their store brands with the plus card.
If Walmart's prices are as high as other supermarkets that offer good brand names....why shop at Walmart anymore?
The reality is most of those GV products are processed at the same plant as the name brand but they use less than perfect product in the GV brand. It shows in the fact that you get a lot of stems in the green beans or the peas aren’t uniform. It isn’t inferior, per se, it is just not as good.
I am cost conscious but there are very few products where I will regularly choose the store brand over the name brand.
A big difference is that you're not paying for the advertising of "name brands".
