Early voting... what a crock.
Missions differ for Texas governor hopefuls
Wayne Slater, Dallas Morning News
AUSTIN With early voting set to start today, the main contenders for governor go into the final two-week sprint on decidedly different missions.
Gov. Rick Perry would like to muster a majority in the Republican primary and avoid a runoff saving millions of dollars and curtailing the feud that has divided the GOP.
Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, trailing in the polls and struggling to find a breakthrough message, could use a six-week runoff campaign to convince voters she is best suited to be the GOP nominee and ensure the party a victory in November.
Debra Medina, who ascended a wave of Tea Party populism, is scrambling to patch the damage from a controversial radio interview and keep her upstart candidacy alive.
"For one year, everybody was saying this is going to be the battle of all battles," said political scientist Allan Saxe of the University of Texas at Arlington. "It's not turned out that way." ..........

Rick Perry for Governor, Michael Williams for Senate.
No Truthers (Medina), and no Washington RINOs (Hutchison).
I will never vote for Kay Bailey Hutchison..She has been in Washington with all of her liberal friends to long..I voted by mail anyway and it was not for her..I am very satisfied with Rick Perry..
Freepmail me or ping me from the original thread to get on/off the 2010 Texas Governor's Race ping list.
If you drive through any small town in Texas, the one new building you will see is the school. The remainder of the town can be falling down, but it's got a new school.
Here in Carrollton, I'm surrounded by new multi-million dollar schools and they are filled with mostly brown skinned kids.
Texas is school poor. We have too many schools and too many school teachers. They don't need fixing. They need to be done away with.
Nina Schaefer against long time D.A. John Healy. Every cop and lawyer I talk to wants Healy out.
Steve Smelley against RINO James Patterson for Commissioner Precinct 4. Steve was a very conservative member of the FBISD for 10 years. Patterson has worked his entire life for the government.
Roxey Roll against Judge Brady Elliott. OK an odd name but Elliott should have been replaced years ago.
Rick Forlano against Jeff McMeans for County Court at Law #2. McMeans is not an incumbent but his daddy held this seat for years and Im sick of people who think they should inherit the job.
Thanks for the ping. I will vote tomorrow.
