WASHINGTON -- Popular Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh shocked the political world yesterday when he announced he won't run for re-election this year, saying he's fed up with Congress -- immediately sparking speculation the moderate heartland Democrat might challenge President Obama in 2012.
"To put it in words most Hoosiers can understand: I love working for the people of Indiana, I love helping our citizens make the most of their lives, but I do not love Congress," Bayh said in Indianapolis.
Bayh, who had been on Obama's short list for vice president, left the door open to all kinds of opportunities -- which could include a long-deferred dream of a presidential run.

Bayh didn’t quit; he is serving out his term. Hope this helps.
Great minds think alike. I made the exact same Bayh-Palin ‘Quit-connection’ on another topic.
Also was kind of amazed to discover that Anita Dunn is an aide to Bayh.
Just saw on today’s MSNBCs The Daily Rundown Anita Dunn being interviewed. She was identified as an aide to Bayh.
This is the same Anita Dunn that Glenn Beck exposed for having Mao as her mentor. The same Anita Dunn that Beck gave his famous White House RED phone to.
These people just crawl from one commie creephole to the next.
Obama is a complete lunatic/loser , surrounded by other complete lunatic/losers plus various Chicago Machine thieves.
He is absolutely a one term wonder.
Bayh as a candidate for President will be far stronger than Obama, and poses a big risk to the Republicans.
You should email your idea to Shanklin. I bet he'd get a kick out of it and do it. That guy is incredibly talented.
Bayh no doubt will be the darling of the DemocRats for the rest of his term.(/scarcasm off)
Maybe he didn't quit outright, but he's certainly a free agent now....
Small, technical difference. By not seeking the second term that everyone believed he was going to (he shocked the political world with this announcement), he is in effect quitting. Yes, Sarah quit without fulfilling her term, but Bayh is still "quitting".
He is serving his second term as senator. I guess you mean he should serve a third six-year term!
