how on earth can he say Lincoln was strong on states rights when he went against states rights and caused over a half million deaths .

And how exactly did Lincoln go against state's rights? Please explain.

For the trolls on this then I know it was not all his fault either and if Davis had said he would get rid of slavery then Lincoln could not have used that political ploy to his advantage and it would not have stopped Europe especially the UK and France from undoing the blockade which was killing civilians.

If Davis had said he would get rid of slavery then he would have been impeached and kicked out of the conferacy. Or locked up in a lunatic asylum, one of the two.

It's not like Davis had any say in the matter to start with. The Confederate Constitution explicitly protected the right of slave ownership, so slavery in the CSA couldn't have been banned without a Constitutional amendment. As President, Davis didn't even have a say in the amending of the Confederate Constitution.
