More than two dozen finches were rescued late Saturday night from an Ashland house of horrors, where authorities said the male birds were henpecked into fighting to the death for mates in close quarters, purely for the merriment of warped gamblers.

Says a lot about natures position on natural dont ask dont tell....but humans “think” they are smarter.
Fighting finches? I know that hummingbirds are very aggressive with each other, but it never occurred to me to bet on the outcome of their fights.

I also hear that Ants can’t be very aggressive to one another, even forcing each other into slavery. ... Bring on the ANT fights!
Finch fights - for folks too poor to afford roosters?

Once there was bear baiting. Then they went down to dog fights. From dog fights, they went to betting on a rooster fight.
Now they have devolved all the way to finch fights.
Leave ‘em alone - given a bit of time, they will be betting on roach fights.
Only problem will be how to differentiate fighters from bettors. Problems, problems.
Great name for a military unit flying small aircraft — “The Fightin’ Finches”.
