That's why I don't get the timing of his resignation. Could he run as an independent? The Indiana deadline of Feb. 16 is for a "major party candidate for US Senate". Could he or somone else come in as a third party at any time? That doesn't make much sense, either. Just trying to figure out why he would hand this to the Repub's.
