Anyone who ever took a safety course or CPR course with first aid associated with it knows this. This product is just what it says it is, sanitary and is good for wound care in the absence of other bandages.

My mother tied one around a bleeding cut on my brother’s foot...worked beautifully.

After they were dried out, I trust you returned them to the Commissary.

Worked for whitewater raft companies for a number of years. We always carried them in our first aid kits. Learned to use them for the secondary purpose during EMT training.

We keep them in the horses’ first aid kits. They’re nicely packaged to remain sterile. .. EquineElite Wound Relief, vet wrap and sterile pads is usually all we need.

You TAPE the pads firmly to the wound and as the pad expands, it actually gets tighter on the wound as the tape soon won’t allow much more room for expansion. The clotting factors in the blood that get into the pad are further squeezed and compressed into the wound. It’s all in

Why not just pack the wound with Kerlix and be done with it? Why not use the right tool for the right job?

One could use kerlix, covered by abdpads and covered by elasto plast or sticky ace type stretch tape, but I think folks are looking for cheap, quick but effective dressings with which to staunch bleeding, and certain types of maxi pads are useful for this. Kerlix doesn’t expand as well and needs a reinforcing abd with strong tape to provide the proper pressure and tension. With maxi’s, a single dressing with strong tape is all that is generally needed Plus you get about a zillion Maxi’s for a few bucks, all in sterile packaging, where-as the “proper medical dressings” are fairly expensive.

Kerlix is best used for debridement of large open wounds healing via third surgical intention as the mesh action debrides dead tissue and hardened eschar leaving healthy granulation. Also provides a nice overbinder for dressings such a petroleum jelly mesh or zeroform bismuth coated dressings covering burns, larger area abraisions, or skin donor and graft sites.
