I do not favor government regulation of the banks. My point is the regulators, in collusion with Wall Street, have eliminated the rise of a competitive financial center in the US. We would be much better served to have 2 or three major financial centers instead of allowing the New York banks, in collusion with the Treasury and Federal Reserve, to dominate the financial markets in the US.

How do you think we can make this happen in practice ? One thing I can think of is to force anyone who used to work in an Investment Bank with a handsome pension or stocks tied to that firm's portfolio to take out all his money and put it in a BLIND TRUST. With that, I don't think the Paulsons and Rubins of the world will even accept the offer to be Treasury Secretary.
