ATLANTA -- Police said two electricians were lured to a vacant house in south Fulton County and shot Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened just after noon Thursday on Surrey Trail in Atlanta.

Fulton County police told CBS Atlanta that a man called two electricians from two different companies to the home. When the first electrician arrived, the suspects robbed him, then shot him in the leg.

Police say a short time later, the second electrician arrived.

"The second electrician to arrive on the scene did not know the first electrician was in trouble,” said Fulton County Police Cpl. Kay Lester.

The suspects then shot the second electrician in the leg. That's when the electrician pulled out a gun and shot the suspect in the head, according to investigators. The alleged robber was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Good thing the electrician was carrying a gun. He should get a medal.

absolutely agreed. notice the 2nd perp fled. chickensh*t. he’s a big man when HE has the gun and a wimp when his victim has one. (but that’s the way it always is).

Just wonder if the 2nd electrician will now lose his job for carryin..

“I think the state made it legal for civilians to carry weapons now because there are just too many robberies going on," said Clarence Martin, a neighbor.

Ah, something new. Too bad they didn't think to put it in the constitution.

Moral of the story: don't be the first electrician. Be the second electrician. First rule of personal safety responsibility...have a gun.

Who knew that a call to do a routine electrical job would turn into a confrontation? Who knew that a routine day would require self defense?

I worked in Washington DC and handled many Ambulance calls. many times I entered buildings where the lights were not working and down dark halls and wondered if I was being set up to be robbed.

Funny thing is, most times the lights were not working because the residents found that taking the light bulbs from the halls was cheaper than buying them themselves.
