Gov't Proposes "National Climate Service" For the US

Standing Bear writes

"NPR reports that 140 years after the creation of the National Weather Service, the US government is proposing the creation of a similar service that will provide long-term projections of how climate will change. 'We are actually getting millions of requests a year already about: How should coastal cities plan for sea-level rise? How should various other agencies in the federal government or in state governments make plans for everything from roads to managing water supplies?' says NOAA Administrator Dr. Jane Lubchenco. 'And a lot of that is going to be changing as the climate changes.' Under the plan, the new NOAA Climate Service would incorporate some of the agency's existing laboratories and research programs, including the National Climatic Data Center, the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and the National Weather Service's Historical Climate Network. Meanwhile, as plans for the new climate service shape up, NOAA launched a new Web site, climate.gov, designed to provide access to a wide range of climate information."

We need a new bureaucracy to tell us not to build on beaches or in flood plains or below sea level? Because some day a storm or a flood may come, and you won’t want to take responsibility for your stupidity, and you’ll want somebody to blame it on?

Sure. Fine.

Just be honest and call it the Department for the Establishment of Common Sense.

So, someone wants another bureaucratic costly government office to do what exactly? Is weather the governments business in the first place? Only if you want weather to be the latest public/political football, as if it isn’t already, and if someone is thinking about a new weather bureaucracy, they didn’t get the emails.

The current Obozo Admin and the MSM refuse to report that Climate Change is a damn scam.

Pathetic. They need their own weather service with their own hand picked commies to lie, cheat, and steal. No one else need apply.

The NOAA can’t reliably forecast weather out 7 days, now we will have an agency that will dictate Defense, Budget and National Security policy based on climate predictions out 90 years.

The National Weather Service is lucky if it can predict with any degree of accuracy what the weather will be three days from now. How in the hell is this New and Improved agency going to do what the older one can't?

It sounds to me like 0 and his band of incompetents are simply looking for a way to create another bureaucratic Cluster-F***!

Clint this abject waste of tax dollars is being hoisted upon us because we have no media in this country.

We have a pandering, Obot class with degrees in “journalism” who await breathlessly the latest WH press release or tweet...so that they can ‘further spread’ the message of our Dear Leader and his benevolent minions.

The BRITISH PRESS, be they associated with liberal or conservative sources is leading the charge in the defeat of the blind, religious fervor with Anthropogenic Globull Warming. Why? They are ‘muckrackers’ first...political beings second. Here, being a lib (belonging to the ‘Cool Kids Club’ and getting invited to cocktail parties) comes first...and always first.

Hail Brittania...they might yet save our sorry arses from Cap and Trade.

Thanks to the internet...WE can access news/knowledge from across the pond. No wonder why Obama wants to place it under the supervision of a Czar...

Now we will have a government sanctioned body to spread the AGW propaganda using taxpayer dollars.

This is “shrinking” the size of government according to the left.

In a year or two more than 15 % of Americans will work for the Government....that will supposedly dig us out of all this economic stuff.

The British press is the best, they cover America a lot and the internet allows easy access to them today. They know they have many news starved Americans on their websites. More traffic means more advertisement revenue for them. Good for them!

The writing is so much better in the UK press. The grammar is never botched. UK Mail is my favorite

“We are actually getting millions of requests a year...”

Well, actually, six. And three are from Michael Mann, and two others are from James E. Hansen. But these six have been “statistically adjusted” to “millions”, to conform with the computer models that conclusively prove that millions of people have been theoretically making requests, or at least would like to, if they could figure out how to send email.

James Delingpole of the UK Telegraph is awesome. He was one of the ‘early’ muckrackers (I love that term!) “on” the fraud of the Church of Anthropogenic Global Warming.

Also, the former Science Advisor to Lady Thatcher, Viscount Lord Christopher Monckton did alot of the ‘heavy lifting’ by touring smallish US colleges and blasting the bad science of AGW early on. His ‘23rd Hour, 59th Minute’ speech (its on YouTube) is awe inspiring. It was back in Nov. of 09 waaaaay before ‘Hope’enhagen; before the CRU leaked emails from East Anglia University...he was one lone dissenter ‘out there’ warning us (and US) of the dangers of what Cap and Trade would do to the US (and world) economies.

The British public ‘gets it’...US...not so much. Many of our fellow citizenry think they NEED to stock up on curly light bulbs; drive a modified golf cart; and learn to carry cloth sacks to the supermarket before their government MAKES them...for the good of the planet!

PS...our current ‘cooling’ period coincides nicely with the 27 year (give or take) solar flare (sunspot) cycle. A cycle that can be documented back to the time of Galileo. An inactive surface of the sun, the earth cools; active sunspots, the earth warms. Maunder Minimum. But no political gains to be made in actual nature.
