I think you misread my point - a politician can certainly do things for the people. Things like working to return our country to the constitutional republic that it once was instead of the quasi-communist hellhole that it's become. Or maybe he could work towards eliminating the plethora of federal regulating agencies like the EPA, OSHA, NEA, EEOC, and the rest of the overbearing thugs that serve only to hinder freedom and economic growth in this country. Or maybe he could work to lower and flatten taxes so that all the deadbeats that routinely vote for democrats could have some 'skin in the game' like the rest of us. Or maybe he could work to eliminate the welfare program that has served to make unemployment a somewhat lucrative option.

Okay, I agree you there. I got thrown by the “me” thing. I would look at it as what can they do for my country. Fulfilling their oath to uphold the Constitution benefits us all.
