I just wanted you to know what a wonderful day it was. Our family can be pretty intimidating. 10 grandchildren, 12 adults, some were missing today but we still make a crowd.

Both men were humbled by our desire to recognize their heroics that saved GrampE. One of our grandsons had written a thank you note to each man and read it. He cried so hard as he read, but he continued through his tears(this is a year later)remembering the pain he felt when he thought he was going to lose his grampa. It was good for all, but especially my husband who, because of the accident and a hematoma on his brain, remembers very little of what went after the accident. He doesn't remember the accident or the rescue at all.

And the men that saved him didn't know until today that the night before the accident we had celebrated my youngest son's return from a year long tour in Baghdad, where he had had to pull 3 of his squad mates from a burning vehicle after it was hit by a roadside bomb(the vehicle he would have been in but they switched positions that day because of a breakdown). Only 1 survived.

God blessed us this day. It was a good day, a day to see how we had been affected and how we have recovered.
