The word is that Holder and Obama "never expected" the kind of pushback against holding a civilian trial for 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikk Mohammed.
This is pretty clueless in and of itself. How tone deaf do you have to be in order to be caught unawares when such large majorities favor keeping KSM from using a civilian trial as a propaganda tool?
So now, Obama is frantically looking for a way out - keeping the idea of a civilian trial open but moving the venue somewhere else. This is probably a dead end and there are even many Democrats who believe the president will cave on the issue and have KSM tried by a military tribunal.

It’s scary to think what a clueless fool we have for President.
To be fair, Democrat’s did grandstand on the idea of civilian trials. Obama evidently took them at their word. This is his mistake. He thought they were as sincere as he was. No, they just used it for poltical effect.
He should be thinking of his move out of the WH.
I think Osama is dead. Harry and Nancy had been briefed but Obie wasn't high enough up the food chain to have been read into the intel. They let him wallow in his ignorance until he finally got the message.
The smartest man in the world was not in touch with the people enough to perceive this. He might have asked those other than Politico or Code Pink.
Someone should have told him that these are crazy terrorists who killed a lot of people.

None of these people are competent attorneys. They are all “politicians” or community organizers. They make deals, raise money and surround themselves with people who will never remember what they said yesterday — which is why they lie with complete abandon — they’re used to talking to people who are neither critical nor educated.
It probably never did occur to them that there are great differences between a civilian trial and a military tribunal. That lecture was probably on the same day when “corpsman” was defined and pronounced. And it didn’t matter what they got on tests — Harvard had quotas to meet.
