Vancouver has GOT to be one of the only places in North America experiencing this warmer-than-average weather.

It's been a very typical El Nino winter in the Northwest - I'm sitting at home in Idaho looking at bare ground just about ten miles south of a ski resort. It isn't really dry, it's just that a series of storms called The Pineapple Express have been bringing rain only a few degrees over freezing instead of the typical five or ten under. Two years ago I had to dig into my house - five feet of snow in the front yard. At the moment there's a little ice in patches and that's it.
The real problem is that no matter how they try in Vancouver, by trucking snow in or making it locally, the temps turn it into a wet, heavy carpet that skiers hate. It's just a really bad year for the Winter Olympics hereabouts. Too bad they didn't consider Dallas or D.C. :-(

Go about 120 miles south of Vancouver and you’ll find the SAME weather...in Seattle.

None of this makes any sense to me. Why Vancouver, where the coastal temps are always fluctuating and they have to build all new facilities for the luge, the bobsled and other things when all these facilities are already in place in Calgary when they hosted the olympics in 1988.......
