This is the live thread, hopefully the stream works!

I support Rand Paul for Senate. We need more small government libertarians in the GOP.
But Rand Paul did announce his candidacy on the Rachel Maddow show. A strange forum for someone seeking the Republican nomination.
LOL
From the Alex Jones Radio Show, May. 21, 2009
Question:"You're basically what I would call a chip off the old block. Your policies are basically identical to your father, correct?"
Rand Paul: "I'd say we'd be very very similar. We might present the message sometimes differently.. I think in some ways the message has to be broadened and made more appealing to the entire Republican electorate because you have to win a primary."
Come on! Rand Paul is against the Patriot Act, enhanced interrogation, FISA and opposes US involvement in both Afghanistan and Iraq. In May 2009 Paul wanted Gitmo closed. In Nov 2009 he said Gitmo should be left open. Flip-flop. Ron and Rand Paul are two anti-military, foreign policy kooks, unfit to serve America in Congress.
Question #1 for Rand - Do you think 9-11 was an inside job?
Clearly, we are not going to agree on this issue. I'll be supporting Bill Johnson, but to each his own.
FIFY
Does anyone have any idea why that one guy was lead out of the auditorium by police early in the debate? It looked like he was an elderly white guy, & I wonder what he said before being escorted out by the cops.
Does proudly excepting the endorsement of said host do so?
Libertarianism is the backbone of conservatism, bub.
Thanks for help electing Grayson.
Funny, and here I thought conservatism was the backbone of conservatism! Silly me.
Or, maybe if conservatives would drop their non-sensical support of Rand, they could all unite behind Bill Johnson, and give Grayson the boot. But, that makes way too much sense.
Watched the whole thing, and I think Bill Johnson did great. His intrinsic sincerity and passion for this country came through well as it always does.
Rand Paul was angry and arrogant and defensive right out of the gate and came across that way throughout most of the event.
Trey Grayson looked and acted like a candidate for state senate, not the US Senate. He thoroughly ticked off all his his talking points but was boring, boring, boring.
All the candidates had tables out front at this event, and sources on the ground tell me that while Bill Johnsons table was mobbed afterwards with people wanting materials, Graysons and Pauls tables were pretty much ignored.
In the end, of course, all that is going to matter is what Kentuckians think - not what Rand Pauls national Ron Paul network thinks, not what Trey Graysons GOP establishment supporters think, and certainly not what I think.
God Bless Kentucky. Finally, a little sanity.
Ditto. I agree with you that Rand Paul came across defensive from the get go and belligerent at times. Besides, we don't need another Paultard libertarian who will vote against everything, including the annual Defense Appropriations bill. Btw, I hope everyone noticed how Rand Paul shied away from direct comments on the Patriot Act, FISA and enhanced interrogations. Not to mention the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Paul's comments on Gitmo didn't remove any doubts concerning his flip-flopping on the issue in 2009.
I thought Johnson did a good job and Grayson was on message too. If this boils down to the charismatic cult of personality, sadly, Paul will win. Otherwise I think both Grayson and Johnson would get the job done for Kentucky.
Rand Paul won and knocked it out of the park on more than one occasion
What are the statewide polls showing and when is the primary election day?
I don’t care. That he announced in the belly of the beast doesn’t bother me what bothers me is when a Republican goes on a left wing show and acts ashamed of his conservatism. Rand Paul is the real deal and he doesn’t back down from defending liberty and that is all I care about.
