A bunch of mistakes and scrubs from the show last night but overall a very nice job done by the Canadians (Why Ontario was not represented in the opening ceremonies last night especially Toronto and the pop culture of the country is leaving many scratching their heads today), but overall it was a subdued display of passion for the games honoring the fallen Luge athlete from Georgia.
Let the games begin!

Let’s face it. The Olympics are a bad idea. With all the money made by the athletes (at least the winners) cities should be paid to host the games. The way it is now the citizens are taxed to have their real lives disrupted.

Ya don't like it...turn ya head..

Maybe I was expecting too much, but the production appeared to be a road show from a Vegas show. It all began with the out of sync snowboarder in the opening to the faulty cauldron at the end. Protesters, a horrible death....these are not good signs. I wish Katie and Matt were still working together, that would be the icing on the cake.

I made the mistake of looking at the images from the luge crash. Horrible!

One of the nicest opening ceremonies I’ve ever seen and remarkedly devoid of political correctness.

Despite the day one tragedy and some snags in the opening ceremonies, the games are about the athletes and they will make it a great event.

Men’s downhill postponed because of slushy course (AP) - 1 hour ago
AP - Officials postponed the men’s downhill event at the Vancouver Olympics Saturday hours before it was set to begin, saying slushy conditions made it impossible to race.

Agreed Leni...wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much attention focused on the igloo dwellers. God forbid Canada took the time to show what kind of a nation they have advanced to in 2010. All I gathered was there was nobody living there but tap dancers, fiddlers, eskimos, and tribes. HAAHAHA

tragedy aside, luge is one of the most fun events to watch and I can’t believe they are showing it at midnight...

WHISTLER, British Columbia (AP) - Olympic officials decided late Friday night against any major changes in the track or any delays in competition and even doubled up on the schedule in the wake of the horrifying accident that claimed the life of a 21-year-old luger from the republic of Georgia.

Yea, and what was up with the Indian dude in the canoe playing an Irish fiddle?
Must have been those IRISH indians from Canada!
And what the heck was the Batman hat deal?
They had ears like the Batman costume!
Only reason I watched the deal was middle of the night insomnia flippin’ channels and caught the repeat.
That had to be the dumbest presentation ever!
Oh wait, next to the inauguration of Zero that is.......
