I was born at Queen’s Kaiser Hospital. Hawaii is a beautiful place, but the locals are racists, they pretty much hate white people, and I certainly paid the price as a white kid in public school there.
I can’t say how glad I am that we moved in 77, because at that time I was in 3rd grade and below a 1st grader in every measurable way. The teachers would just send me off into the back of the room where a could of us white kids usually found ourselves. I can’t imagine how bad off I would have been on an educational level if we had stayed.....
Yep..that is the Hawaii my son describes too.
