The House Committee on Militia Police and Public Safety voted 15-6 today to eliminate Virginias one-gun-a-month limit on the purchase of handguns.

Andrew Goddard, father of Virginia Tech shooting survivor Colin Goddard, argued that only gunrunners need to buy more than one handgun a month.
The vote was largely along party lines. Two Democrats voted with the Republican majority.
The measure now goes to the full House of Delegates.
The one-gun-a-month law, which passed in 1993, was a key initiative of then-Gov. L. Douglas Wilder, a Democrat.
Last year both candidates for governor, Democrat R. Creigh Deeds and Republican Bob McDonnell, said they would sign bills to repeal the law.
Wilder cited Deeds pledge to repeal the law as one reason why he declined to endorse the Democratic nominee.

McDonnell defeated Deeds for attorney general in 2005 and for governor in 2009. The NRA endorsed Deeds in 2005, but switched to McDonnell last year.
Deeds, as a member of the House of Delegates, voted against the one-gun-a-month bill, while McDonnell, as a member of the House, voted for it.
McDonnell now says he has changed his mind and would sign a bill to repeal the measure.
Since the 1993 legislation, there have been tremendous advances in instant background checks and in the law on straw purchases, McDonnell said last August during an online chat at the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Those crazy Virginia democrats...who’d a thunk it?
It will be interesting to track this one.
Got that right. I’m hoping our senators do the right thing.
I know mine won’t. She’s one of the most radically left feminists in the bunch. Not the kind of feminists, though, who thinks women should be able to meaningfully defend themselves.
I can’t remember who the mayor of New York City was when this was passed. He claimed a large number of NYC shootings occurred with handguns purchased in Virginia so the media went into “macaca” mode claiming Virginia was a gun running state. He and Doug Wilder successfully whipped the legislature into a frenzy. There was no alternative media back then to offer other points of view. Maybe it was David Dinkins. Anyway, there are tens of millions of guns in America. This one law will be of little impact to the Brady bunch.
And in recent news, the NRA has provided funds to the ANJPRC (Ass’n of NJ Pistol and Rifle Clubs), for the sole purpose of defeating the midnight-vague, one gun a month law passed by ex Gov. Corzine. He, along with Supt. of the NJSP, Col. Fuentes will be named in the lawsuit. Rumor has it that Gov. Christie will repeal it if asked. This bill was so poorly written, that it appeared that dealers would be in violation of the law, as they posessed more than the one allowed by law. Moreover, the NJSP, when questioned could provide no answer, as to who would be held liable if more than one purchase was made. That is the hallmark of an anti-gunner. They deliberately make the laws increasingly vague, in the hopes that people would just give up purchasing all together. Most Democrats are slowly but surely starting to realize that being anti 2A is the quickest way to ensure they are back in the private sector next election. Now all we need is for Mc Donald v Chicago to rule in our favor, and you will see these states that flagrantly violate the Constitution, have their onerous laws thrown out of court.

Is the gun vote organized in New Jersey?
