I was asked a question on the Glenn Beck show today regarding my thoughts on the so-called 9/11 truth movement. I have never been involved with the 9/11 truth movement, and there is no doubt in my mind that Muslim terrorists flew planes into those buildings on 9/11. I have not seen any evidence nor have I ever believed that our government was involved or directed those individuals in any way. No one can deny that the events on 9/11 were a tragedy for all Americans and especially those families who lost loved ones.
The question surprised me because it's not relevant to this race or the issues facing Texans. This campaign has always been about private property rights and state sovereignty. It is focused on the issues facing Texans. It is not a vehicle for the 9-11 truth movement or any other group.
The real underlying question here, though, is whether or not people have the right to question our government. I think the fact that people are even asking questions on this level gets to the incredible distrust career politicians have fostered by so clearly taking their direction from special interests instead of the people, whether it's Rick Perry and his HPV mandate or Kay Hutchison and voting for the bank bailout. It is absolutely the right and duty of a free people to question their government. Texas does not need another politician who tells you what you want to hear, then violates your liberties and steals your property anyway. I fully expect to be questioned and to be held accountable as Governor, and that's the underlying issue here: should people be questioning their government. And the answer is yes, they should be.
Why did she not give that answer in the first place? Why is that not her automatic position?
I wonder if she did it on purpose as she saw her campaign gaining ground, and was never really interested in doing more than “shaking up” the other candidates.
I dunno.
No one's questioning the "right to question our government".
But accusing the Bush administration of being complicit in an attack on NYC is waaaaaaay more than "questioning our government".
Typical BS political backpedaling.
She wasn’t asked whether people should be allowed to question the government — she was asked for HER opinion on THIS topic. Her opinion is apparently that “she has an open mind” about the possibility that the Bush Administration was complicit in the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
She’s finished, and she knows it.
SnakeDoc
Her and McCain could be clones. He always has fulsome talking points to make himself look normal when cornered.
I am changing my vote to Perry. I don’t care WHAT her lame website statement says.
She said on national TV that maybe the truthers are right.
I hope she loses bigtime and does not force a run-off.
What a disgusting display.
Well, she had a chance to give that answer in the first place and muffed it. Oh well. There are questions to which there is only one right answer and this was one of them. What I said was “this” but what I meant to say was “that” never works. Just ask John Kerry.
I hire a lot of Mexicans to work for me at different times of the year. I always make sure their papers are in order and I always ask them this question, “If a war broke out between the US and Mexico, what side would you fight on?” There is only one right answer. In fact there is only one right way to answer it. If too much time is taken thinking before giving the right answer, then you are disqualified also.
Medina statement after hemming and hawing on Beck. The lady isn't ready for Texas Prime Time.
I’m just real glad I’ve got a congressional candidate to vote for that I can trust.
OK, not only is Debra Medina a Paulbot, she’s either a 9-11 Truther or a fellow traveler. Here’s the audio from her 4-minute interview with Glenn Beck: http://www.therightscoop.com/debra-medina-is-a-911-truther/
So, Rick Perry doesn’t look so bad anymore, huh? : )
Beck, a leading personality for conservatives,
Since when is Glen Beck a "leading personality" for conservatives?
Cripes Almighty, all he is is another dumbed-down radio talk show shock jock doing hatchet jobs for a paycheck.
The dipwad doesn't even have the jouralistic credentials or integrity of a biased liberal buffoon like Keith Olbermann.
More than anything, we owe Beck a word of thanks for asking the RIGHT question.
She was doing pretty good up to that point. I liked what she had to say. She was talking about having a consumption tax vs. the high property tax. Then boom, it all ended with one question.
I will say one thing in her defense. I would not automatically fire someone who was a 9/11 truther in my administration. As long as they are not policy makers and do not go public and damage my administration. If some secretary in my administration believes it, I really don’t care. That’s their business.
“I dont have all the evidence there, Glenn, Medina replied. So Im not in a place I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard. Theres some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there so Ive not taken a position there.
Well, she was surprised,OK, but it hints at her convictions. If she thought the Truthers were moonbats and the whole theory ludicrous, she would have popped that out instead of this “better look into it” stuff.
So, Medina, how about dynamiting levies in NOLA? Or, to go back a ways, which studio do you think the moon landings were filmed in? Global Warming Consensus, yes or no?
Medina’s response to that question is another anecdotal example of the stupidity of politicians.
Just because a politician has conservative tendancies, does not make a politician brilliant.
Too many politicians are dumb as rocks.
No sir. She blew it. This a more than a little like those who question whether FDR knew that the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbour, or that Stanton was involved in Lincoln’s murder.
I believe Perry wins and this doesn’t help Medina any, before this she may have moved into second behind Perry. Now she will finish a distant third and be only a faint memory.
