Well the majority of military don’t support it. Women in the military do which shows why they shouldn’t be there.
About 51% don't support openly gay people in the service according to a recent poll given only to service members by the four Military Times publications (owned by Gannett).
This number is down from 65% a few years ago.
Why is this number down? Well, I suspect that today's young recruits are much more, for lack of a better word, "indoctrinated" into acceptance of gay lifestyles. They went to school where they had friends and acquaintances who were openly gay and where tolerance was drummed into their heads by teachers and peer pressure. They've had family members come out as openly gay. If they had civilian jobs prior to enlisting, they likely had openly gay co-workers and worked for companies with established anti-discrimination policies.
All polls indicate this country is slowly becoming more tolerant of gays but will push back if asked to embrace too much too quickly, hence the voter slapdowns of gay marriage. We can post here on a conservative forum pretending this isn't happening but that's not going to change the fact that out in the real world every indication says differently.
