I'm not sure how deep I should respond, knowing that I'm on the precipice and already having been yanked back twice now from the abyss. But seeing as how you responded to me I guess the polite thing to do would be respond back. But you know better than anyone Jim that when poked I poke back I don't go quietly into the night.

“Bob J is no longer a FReeper in good standing.”

That would depend entirely on one’s definition of “FReeper” and “good standing”. If being both means hoisting a politician on a pedestal out of reach of the hearth fire at their feet, then I fit the bill. But I always believed being a FReeper meant someone dedicated to the conservative principles of small government, low taxes and personal freedom and not beholden to the politics of personality.

This may come as a surprise but I've always felt FR was bigger than the forum, bigger than the DCC, bigger than the FRN, bigger than me and even bigger than you. So I apologize for not having the same definitions but to me that is one of those “let's agree to disagree” moments.

“He now despises FR and all we stand for.”

What do you stand for now Jim? I always thought I knew but now I'm not so sure. A couple examples are McCain and Perry. In another life you would have been the first to criticize any politicians endorsement of these 2 RINO’s but now you are silent because it's Saint Sarah. To me that smells like there is something rotten in Denmark. But that's just me.

“His hatred for Sarah Palin matches that of any leftist Obama worshiper.”

I don't hate Sarah, I don't think she is ready for the Oval Office and have some reservations about her history. I also don't like her most ardent supporters on FR spinning, lying, fabricating and giving her credit for things she didn't do or the efforts of others.

And I'll tell you one thing that offends me most of all and that's comparing her to people like Ronald Reagan or Margaret Thatcher. To me it's an insult to not only who they were but their accomplishments and places in history. If someone wants to do this wait until Palin is in the grave and compare their victories and effect on the world. Until then to me it is a desperate attempt to promote Palin way beyond her karma.

“He thinks the Tea Party is a waste of time.”

This is baloney and I've expounded on this on other threads. To me the TP is culmination in everything we tried to accomplish with the FRN. And I'll go one step further. I don't think the TP’s might ever have evolved as they did if it wasn't for the groundwork the FRN laid with events like our 250 nationwide protests in 2000 and again in 2003. I always say I love Rush because he made it okay to a conservative, well, in the same way the FRN made it okay to be a conservative activist. That you forget this history so quickly is, well the best way to put it is “disheartening”.

“He thinks FR is populated by mostly right-wing nut jobs and bible thumpers.”

No, they're just the squeakiest wheel right now.

“He’s now openly mocking God-fearing, Liberty-loving patriots on FR.”

If that means I am opposed to hoisting an obviously flawed politician to a level unbefitting their past accomplishments or future potential, so be it.

“FR has become a major embarrassment to our good friend Bob.”

Only in the context of how we were received and thought of in the ‘98-'02 period. But you're the captain at the helm so whatever has happened in the last 9 years has to be laid at your doorstep.

“He’s devolving into an anti-freeper.”

I spent several years going to these AF websites defending you, FR and your actions and intentions, being pilloried and attacked right alongside you. That you make this statement at this point shows you never knew anything about me. Sometimes Jim I think you don't really deserve the friends you have, you toss them over the side so quickly.

“I’ve asked him to leave but he insists on hanging around to poke sticks at us right-wing nuts whistling past the graveyard.”

I've gone up against the best from Ash to mojo to the AF websites who tried to destroy my personal life, my business
and drive me from conservatism activism. Again Jim, if you think what you and others have subjected to on these Palin threads is intense much less going to drive me off, well, this is is kids play.

Jim, you got the ban button, do me in if you feel this way. But keep this in mind. Even the best constructed tunnels need a canary in the coal mine and right now for FR I am that canary.

I stand in awe of your sense of modesty, Bob.

Not. Get over yourself.

BTW Jim, and this is important and I want you to think about it.

Hundreds of people spent years attacking me, harassing me going after my personal and public life, in an effort to drive me out of conservative activism. But there is only one person who was responsible for that.

You. I placed all my hopes, dreams and efforts into you and FR and when you failed me there was nothing left.

I learned something from that, never ever hoist anyone, private individual, VIP or politician onto a pedestal so high that when they comecrashing down, as they inevitably will, they take everyone and everything with them.

Just as Palin and maybe even the TP’s may do for you.

My suggestion is to always have a back up plan.

All the snide, pithy, anonymous personal comments from the Palinistas only reinforces what small people you are.

Palin is unelectable. Get used to it.

Great post Bob and very brave of you. If criticizing Palin, let me correct myself, if not worshiping Palin is now a ground for banning on Free Republic then let it be, I am ready for it. Most of Palin fans or worshipers do not see that they are doing exactly what the left wing nuts have been doing with the Obama cult of personality. It is very sad and very dangerous and time will prove us right.

Your refusal to voluntarily leave FR after the owner has asked you to do such shows what a liberal-minded self-centered egotistical jerk you are, Bob. A conservative man, an honorable man, would have left long ago without demanding to be banned.

Palin is unelectable. Get used to it.

Time will tell, Bob. But your ego has blinded you to what an a-hole you have become in trying to spread that message.

There are many, many posters on FR who raise questions about Palin every day. But Bob has decided he will insult and demean Palin supporters every chance he gets. That’s not brave, that is being a jerk.

A principled man stays and fights. If Jim wants to ban me, nothing I can do about that. What I do control is whether I stay or go and I’ve made my decision.

Get used to it...or as long as Jim desires.

You alsodon’t know me at all. If you want a clue maybe you can ask some of the giants of FR who worked with me for years building this website and Jim up to what it is...or what it could have been.

I don't criticize Palin supporters, I criticize blind devotion, situational conservatism, spinning, lying, evasion and hypocrisy.

I also criticize CINO who act like liberals.

To others reading this thread. I may not be long for this site, please carry one in my absence, my spirit will be with you.

A principled man stays and fights.

Not on the other man's property, Bob.

Really, just get over yourself. Most of FR was for either Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson last election, and that didn't pan out. But FR is still here. That's what primaries are for, and sooner or later, if Palin wants to be president, she'll have to win in those. And if Palin fails, then her supporters will move on. But we don't need a stinkin' self-appointed canary like you crapping on the rug and calling it public service.

Oh, and whatever you might have done in the past, Bob, you have trashed your legacy with your egotistical mission to insult a large swath of freepers who are passionate about their beliefs. Any more, you are only passionate about promoting yourself.

All of which are traits you display on a daily basis any more, Bob.

You're a legend in your own mind, dude.

BTW - Why do I find it ironic, with a touch of deja vu, that you now are urging me to “quit” because you believe it to be the right thing to do?

Bob, if Jim asked me to leave, I would leave. It’s his website, and I respect private property. He wouldn’t need to ban me. You are so consumed with your sense of self-importance that you are ignoring a key conservative concept of private property rights. And that is where you have gone astray. Plenty of people take issue with Palin every day on FR. But you’ve become a complete a-hole with your approach, mainly because you are just feeding your own ego in the process.

“Not on the other man’s property, Bob.”

Uhhh, it’s a public bulletin board. If Jim wants to ban me he can do it with a stroke of the keyboard.

You know what’s bugging you isn’t that I won’t go, it’s that Jim won’t pull the plug.

I suggest you take it up with the proprietor because I ain’t going no where until I get the “no account” error message.

I may be killed, but I don’t quit.

Bob, I am not urging you to 'quit'. Instead, it's a big, bad internet world out there. Please feel free to go set up a website and broadcast your message to the world, I'm sure some will listen. Just respect the rights of the owner of this website and stop doing it here.

“Bob, if Jim asked me to leave, I would leave.”

Jim hasn’t so much asked me to leave as asked me “why do you stay?”

I think I’ve answered that question. FR is bigger than him or I.

Next.

No, what is bugging me is a guy who holds himself up as the savior of conservatism won't adhere to one of its core principles, that of private property rights. Only an unprincipled jerk demands that the cops be called to remove him from a property after he has been asked to leave, and only a complete a-hole demands that Jim ban him instead of leaving voluntarily.

Jim hasn’t so much asked me to leave

Uh, no, Bob. From post 15:

I’ve asked him to leave

So you can't even tell the truth on a thread where the truth is present for all to see.

I think I’ve answered that question. FR is bigger than him or I.

FR will do just fine without you Bob, and Jim is perfectly capable of driving the bus without you trying to jerk the steering wheel around while he is driving.
