I thank Yale Graduate School student Eric Robinson for his service to the country in Iraq and Afghanistan. But Robinson’s hit piece on Sarah Palin, Palin’s bigger blunder, leads me to believe Robinson has succumbed to the New Haven funny water, either that, or he is spending too much time with Bruce Ackerman over at the law school.
Robinson writes that Palin has shown contempt for the memory of fallen soldiers by wearing a black metal bracelet (see photo) with the name of her son living son Track on it:
The name on her black memorial bracelet — one, like the gold star, a demonstration of a friend or associate who was killed in action — is that of her oldest son, Track. Track served honorably in Iraq, and both he and his parents should be thanked for his selfless service to his country. He is also alive.
Commemorating Track’s service by wearing a a black memorial bracelet which is reserved for those dead or even a red bracelet for those missing in action, demonstrates a horrifying contempt for those who gave their last full measure of devotion or an almost unbelievable ignorance of the importance of symbols in American history.
Unfortunately, given Palin’s reputation and frequent public statements, I assume it is the latter.

Actually, the author of this particular hit piece is Eric Robinson.

OK, I’ll give you that his “Author’s note” correction is clear, but if he is able to edit the article by adding to it, why isn’t it possible to pull the article completely as it contains errors of fact and unsubstantiated assumptions- as proven by HIS OWN Author’s Note.
Sorry, but I won’t give this kind of dishonesty and lack of ethics a pass. The whole article should be retracted or removed. THAT’S how moral and ethical people would act.
Then again, this IS Yale. So we can assume there are no moral or ethical people available to know what action to take.

I completely disagree. Removing the article is the coward's way out - sending your mistake down the memory hole as if it never happened.
The honorable thing is to leave it up there as a testament to your ignorance, along with an acknowledgement that you are an idiot.
As he has done in this case.
He didn't apologize OR acknowledge that he was an idiot.

Read it again. He is only apologizing that people who read it "might have been misled". He's still an idiot thinking that HIS total lack of facts is unimportant and that the "important lesson" in his piece is the "importance of these symbols".
His so-called "apology" is just a typical left wing political spin after being called out for... what do they call it... oh, yeah, LYING! Read all 180+ comments after the article. They are uniformly against him and his slanted view, with the exception of 3 or 4 lefty apologists trying to slam all the rest as being right wing tea party/ Palin droids.
Some of his supporters try to make the point that this was just an opinion piece, written by him and just innocently published in the YDN as a student newspaper. Only problem is that the byline states he's a "Guest Columnist", not "Letter to the Editor" or "Guest Opinion" or any other similar title that would show that the article was published as a general public submission without fact checking or approval by the YDN staff. Sorry, I go with the majority of the commenters in that he's a liberal lefty with Palin Derangement Syndrome and the student paper fully approved of his piece by publishing it without any fact checking or editor's note regarding the content or his affiliation with it.
But again, that's just me.
Bzzzzzt?!?! He didn't apologize? What are you talking about?! You quoted his apology! It reads:
"I apologize to the governor"
How much clearer can an apology be?
He also apologizes to those stupid enough to read his blog for misleading them with bad information.
He acknowledges very clearly that the information he provided was wrong:
"I criticized former Alaska governor Sarah Palin for wearing a black memorial bracelet with her son’s name on it, as Track returned unharmed from Iraq last fall. However, Sarah Palin's bracelet was not black; instead, it was a dark brown "DeployedHero" bracelet worn by those who have loved ones currently serving in the military. The bracelet is different from the black one associated with men and women who are killed in action overseas."
Seriously, I have no idea what you're getting at. He said his information was wrong. He apologized to the governor and he apologized to his readers. Very clearly, without equivocation or any additional cheap shots at Palin.
So I noticed, after I posted. Maybe they are triplets?
