The Polk County school district is giving away iPods to some parents.
The school district is using the device to reward parents of children with disabilities who fill out a 10-minute online survey. The district wants to know how well it's connecting with the parents and how to get parents involved in their children's education.
The district is spending about $350,000 in federal stimulus money for the iPods.
The district has more than 10,000 students with disabilities.

Hey! At the Indian Casino near here, a few weeks back, they were giving away free iPods for being there — one ever five minutes all through the day and into midnight... :-)
No, I didn’t make it, but I already have an iPod... thank you...

You were saying ...

Well..., I would like to go into a store that says, "We don't sell anything from China!"... LOL...
But, I'm afraid that store would only have about ten or twenty items to sell, max... :-)

It seems everyone is jumping on the iPod bandwagon these days... you can’t go anywhere without there being some “give-away” of iPods... LOL...
They even advertise the give-aways here on TV from car dealers and you name it... :-)

The Polk County school district ... The district has more than 10,000 students with disabilities.
ONE county has 10000 disabled students???
The 2000 population was 484,000 - figuring 33% are student-age, that's 160,000 and 1/16th of those are disabled?
That seems extraordinary...

If they were giving away "
Zunes" then it would be a travesty of the first order...
At least they're giving away something that works really well... :-)

There is a catalog/online store that does not sell anything from China...Vision Forum. Movies, books, kids toys, etc. They now sell pre-loaded I-Pods...wonder if they had to compromise on their China policy for that?

I'm afraid you would find something from China inside everything you get. I thought food would be exempt from that, but I hear stuff comes from China in that category, too... LOL...
