At least he was cleared. I honestly thought it could go either way. Maybe common sense is making a comeback?

“It is no accident that in a great many British homes there is an ornamental samurai sword conveniently to hand.”

I hope your home is one of the above. If anything like this should ever happen to you, God forbid, don’t hesitate to use anything available to protect yourself and loved ones.

Here in the colonies, we have some areas where the legal system has gone similarly awry. We are constantly battling the obstacles that liberals have erected in their efforts to deny the individual right to self-defense.

Stay the course, from FRiends in Tennessee.

Could this happen in the US? I sometimes wonder....especially with the current administration and the liberal mentality.

The prosecution refused to accept that his actions amounted to lawful self-defence and argued it was 'over the top' to attack a man armed with a knuckleduster by using a 'battlefield weapon'.

So in England you're expected to have a large collection of weapons for self-defense so you can select the one just dangerous enough to be proportionate to the threat...oh, wait....

They confiscate everyone's weapons, then grouse in court about the deadliness of whatever they happened to find lying around.

they came in and attacked HIS family IN his home. In my book that means the gloves are off.

In my book, anything short of lethal force in such circumstance is an act of extreme mercy.

C'mon folks! 27 responses and not a single Highlander comment? Not a single MacLeod "quickening" graphic or gif?

I think it'd be classic to meet an intruder in your home with a raised Samurai Sword and muttering: "In the end .... There can be only ONE!

But I did like the reference to the Apostle Peter! That was cute.

*** Note to self. Buy cheap Samurai sword. ***

Note to self. Buy cheap Inexpensive Samurai sword. There is a difference.

With a good 'Inexpensive' Samurai sword you can shave with. With many 'Cheap' ones you can barely cut butter (they have no edge).

I bought my S-I-L a Kill Bill 'Bride Sword', it was sharp as my Gillette. Now that's sold out, but this double set is in stock:

Bill & Bride Set $88.00 (King of Swords)
Katana Set Specs:
Overall Length: 42", Blade Length: 28", Blade: Sharpened 440 Stainless Steel
Hattori Hanzo Lion Emblem ENGRAVED on the Bride sword BLADE
Hattori Hanzo Demon Emblem ENGRAVED on the Bill sword Scabbard
Includes Custom Samurai Sword

Or just search for 'Kill Bill Swords' or 'Katana Swords' for other websites.
Full Tang is the best and look for word 'sharpened'

caveat: I had some 'delivery issues' with 'The King of Swords' so I'd order by phone to make sure they're in stock. But the sword is friken fantastic.

Churchill would be spinning in his grave.

In Churchill's day, the law relating to self-defence was essentially the same as it is now.

Michael Severs, 22, and Michael Smith, 19, escaped with a suspended prison sentence and 100 hours of community work

How is it these two thugs were let off???!

I've read many slap-on-the-wrist accounts in the UK. Do they think that by not punishing them, the thugs will give up their life of crime?

My wife's dad died suddenly about three weeks ago. He left me several toys I've always admired of his, including one of the official replica Highlander Samurai swords. Not one of the really cheapo versions, I think his cost about $300 and it IS razor sharp.

Its more of a question of application. In generations past, prosecutors wouldn’t have wasted a Crown Court’s time and energy in trying to lock up someone who was clearly and obviously defending himself and his family....

Sorry about your dad passing.

A $300.00 Katana (Samurai) sword is definitely good quality, blade is likely made of carbon steel, not stainless. You could prolly chop a head off with one easy swipe.

But for general self protection, a $40.00 - $80.00 Stainless Steel blade Katana will do the job too, as long as it comes with a good edge from the factory.

Yes, you do.

The controversy has been where self defence ends and excessive force begins.

Because they are junkies. Probably.

Mind you so was the one who broke into my house in 2008, and was caught by me. He got almost 4 years.
