Remember when Tony Stark fought Communists in Viet Nam, not renegade American businessmen.
Remember when America was portrayed as the morally upright country founded on freedom for you.
Oh how the times ( or owners of the comix) have changed.

Another book called Siege Embedded has Glenn Beck depicted as a stooge for supervillains. Hope this doesn’t get complicated:
There was an alien invasion, and Norman Osborn (the Green Goblin from the Spider-Man movies) ended up killing the alien queen and was handed the keys to the kingdom, as it were. He’s been given power over what was once called SHIELD, an international peacekeeping force that has a little more teeth than the real-world UN version. Anyway, it is public knowledge that he was the murderous Green Goblin, but that’s all forgotten and he looks like a hero (and goes around talking about “those damned liberals,” of course), and Glenn Beck in particular loves him. In Siege Embedded, he is on railing against Obama, and he says, “But there is one man looking out for us. Norman Osborn.”
As if Glenn Beck would fall for any of this. He’s the guying exposing the Mao lovers in the administration and talking every night about the history of progressivism and its ties to Nazism, fascism, communism, etc. He would be the ultimate skeptic, but Marvel wants him to be the dullard who falls for the evil guy who is really doing harm while cloaking himself in the flag (literally—Osborn is in red, white and blue Iron Man armor).
There has been anti-tea party stuff in Amazing Spider-Man as well, but that book is really off the rails. Spider-Man making deals with the devil, breaking in to honeymoon suites to have sex, you name it. Way to shepherd characters that are only temporarily in your charge, current Marvel people.
Assuming you’re asking seriously, the liberals—particularly those at MSNBC—love to call Tea Party participants “teabaggers.” For them, it is a reference to a once-obscure sexual act in which a man lowers his testicles into someone else’s mouth. According to wikipedia, it is usually another man. Most who use the term “teabaggers” as a perjorative know full well what they are saying, and this includes elected officials on up to the president (I’m pretty sure he’s used the term). The MSNBC hosts take particular glee in using it and usually say it with a knowing snicker. The kid with the sign here is playing into it in a “turnabout is fair play” kind of way.

Comic books and cartoons are moving beyond their pay grade when they presume to speak on politics and current affairs. What are going to see next? Can we expect to read of Daddy Warbucks battling Rachel Maddow for the control of health insurance companies?
No, you’re not too old. You’re in line with all normal Americans. I think a lot of us who have been introduced to this term by the mainstream media wish they had kept their perversions to themselves.

As Anderson Cooper and his ilk in the MSM know very well, "tea bagging" is slang for a twisted sexual practice favored by the bath house crowd. (The same crowd that brought us "fisting.")
Actually, it’s more likely from first-person viewpoint video games. Kids found out if a another character knelt on top of your character’s head the view was objectionable! The practice and the name may ultimately come from wrestling, where shoving one’s crotch onto an opponent is also objectionable, and likewise serves as an expression of contempt.
Notice that the teabagger is the one in charge of the situation; the victim, unable to resist, is by the teabagging shown to be unmanly. It’s interesting that the media are so willing to concede this point...
Oh, I probably should have made clear that “teabagging” in the sense that gamers use it happens fully clothed (and over the internet!) It isn’t sexual beyond the implication that the victim is less-than-manly, like kids calling each other names.
the problem for Marvel is that libs look down on comics and their kids( if they have any) don’t form the comic buying demographic. Its conservatives kids who purchase them.
I don’t think Franken was part of the original cast (which appeared in the issue you posted). I think he was part of the later, unfunny casts that brought the quality level of the show down to nil. Not too unlike his current contribution to the Senate.
What’s needed is to have Capt. America show up at Tea Party rallies. Any one have the costume that can attend or even make one for a future attendee?
Oh yeah! We need Capt. America to show up at Palin rallies! Would that be cool or what? Make sure he gets great face time standing next to the Palinator shaking her hand! Go Cappy!
Great idea! Holding a sign that says "I'm Captain AMERICA, where else would I be?"
