Kerry: 'Dead wrong' to write obituary on climate change bill By Alexander Bolton - 02/10/10 09:54 AM ET
Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) says those who think climate change legislation is dead for the year are dead wrong. Those who think blizzards and record snow falls in Washington will make it tough to move a global warming bill are guilty of "inside the beltway" thinking, Kerry said.
"The inside-the-Beltway conventional wisdom that this issue has stalled is dead wrong," Kerry said in a statement e-mailed to The Hill. "This is not and never has been a partisan issue, and Senators Graham, Lieberman, and I will continue building consensus on both sides of the aisle with all those willing to engage to create jobs, advance our security interests, reduce pollution, and make America more competitive, said Kerry, a key advocate of a climate change legislation.
The senior senator from Massachusetts has been working with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) to find a bipartisan way forward on the issue.
Some of Kerrys Democratic Senate colleagues are less keen on a climate change bill. They told The Hill this week that the optics of Congress tackling global warming in a year with record snow may be a political loser. Other Democratic senators say a bill that was once a top priority for the party and for President Barack Obama cannot be dug up again during 2010.
The wintry weather is also encouraging opponents of a climate change bill to think they will win the day.
The icy conditions in Washington led Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) on Tuesday to write on Twitter that the snow in D.C. will continue until former Vice President Al Gore "cries uncle."
This is encouraging news. Kerry’s judgment sucks. If he says it’s still alive, it is breathing its last. Wasn’t he in Vietnam?
Translation: For goodness sakes, we still need to tax you big time, no matter how cold it gets, otherwise you will spend the money you earn on frivolous things such as food and housing and expensive gasoline to drive to your job.
A clown worthy of ridicule.
“I will continue building consensus on both sides of the aisle with all those willing to engage to create jobs, advance our security interests, reduce pollution, and make America more competitive,” said Kerry, a key advocate of a climate change legislation.So-called “climate change legislation” would achieve the exact opposite. And he knows it.
Lindsey Graham an John Kerry have a lot in common politically.
Kerry... still trying to be relevant to someone somewhere, or anyone anywhere.
We know this is not a partisan issue. This is an RCI issue. Senator Kerry, Rectal Cranial Inversion is a serious problem in the US! I believe if we solve the RCI issue FIRST we will not have to worry about the Climate Change issue.
Ketchup going to save us?
Kerry was in Vietnam?
Kerry is rapidly becoming a parody of himself. If he says re, bet on black, if he says up, trust down. To make this announcement as DC is being pummeled by a blizzard is laughable. I am sure all those buried in snow are really worried about ‘Climate Change’ right about now.
I expect nothing but tone deafness from Kerry. He will have to acknowledge the total meltdown of climate-related politics eventually.
Maybe he’ll just keep that tin ear until he surprisingly finds himself out of a job.
We’re rapidly reaching the point where espousing a belief in AGW will become a liability and turn you into a laughingstock.
He couldn’t even get it right about where he was for Christmas how can he get it right on GW bill.
“can I get me a reality check here?”
Good! Snow, more snow, keep it up.......White House roof may collapse...May be a stray Communist or two inside, CRUSH THOSE COMMIES! lol
