"There definitely aren't a lot of laughs around the briefing room these days," says Washington Examiner White House correspondent Julie Mason. "Robert's little digs and evasions have lost their power to amuse particularly since we haven't had a presser since July."

It sounded like a lot of them laughed when Gibbs was mocking Sarah Palin with the handwriting on his palm. Some of the analysts have tried to say it was feeble or guilty laughter. There seem to have been some groans too, maybe more because of the juvenile level of the humor than out of any sympathy for Sarah Palin (a private citizen being mocked by the official spokesman of the President of the United States).
As they were saying on "Fox and Friends," Gibbs probably didn't do this on his own but got Obama's OK ahead of time--on the same day that Obama was posturing about bipartisanship.

Is it okay to laugh AT him?

They need to replace Gibbs with Biden. Biden can always keep 'em laughing.
Stand up for Chuck!

This story is a prime example of how ridiculous the media is today. First off, this entire story isn't news worthy in the least and a waste of time that demonstrates how out of touch the reporters and the people whom they cover area. Secondly, though reading coverage of the windbag Gibbs may make you sick to your stomach, understand that this is exactly what we need. His arrogance is only rivaled by his President's. Any rational American would easily become ill while watching this guy engage in yet another cheap political ploy to the tune of maniacal laughter while this country's economy goes to crap. Unbeknownst to these “journalists”, this story typifies exactly what the American people are so tired of. Keep up the good work ignorant media!

I’m puzzled as to why the laughter has died down. After all this Administration IS a joke, right?

Every time they mention Palin they just elevate her to an equivalent stature with Odumbo. It just shows how deep of a hole they have dug for themselves.

This guy is the biggest joke of a press secretary, ever. And that is saying something. There have been some real tools that have held the job.
Gibss is a failure in life who attached his star to corrupt Democrats.
He is only 38 years old, but looks over 55 with a heart condition.
Even for the Liberal MSM, who are bound by their common ideology to cheer for Obama, this has to be hard. Some of them remember Tony Snow, and what a class act he was. Tony was a good man who fear God and demonstrated incredible courage to the "Press Corpse."
The contrast between Snow, and Gibbs could not speak louder volumes to the difference between Conservative and Liberals.
