Now you know why Seattle is the PC asshole of the west coast, with Portland, Oregon and much of California running a close second.

Security officers can intervene under a “good samaritan” action, and they can be given limited police powers to intervene and detain criminal suspects for the local/Metro police.

Obviously, Seattle’s leftist mindset is “don’t get involved” ala Kitty Genovese (the Brooklyn case).

Time to fire the company and hire one that has real security officers who have real training and real guns.

All the security officers in my building are former police officers and military policemen. However, they are limited by either contract or DC law from intervening right outside the door (a Senator’s wife’s car was hijacked there a few weeks ago and there have been several purse snatchings within a few feet of our security officers). Boy do I feel safe. A few might come to my aid outside of their limited powers since they know that my son is a cop. However, Marxist Maryland State troopers will buddyfu*k you even if you are an out-of-state cop. I’ve seen this first hand.

DC believes that thieves have all the rights and the security officers have none. Believe me, I know this field very well and it sucks.

When Democrats/marxists/cowards/liberals run a city, they run it into the ground and the citizen suffers, not the criminals.

It would be RACISM to stop the misunderstanding.

America is losing it’s civilization.

Observe and report used to be plenty good enough because no one was ever attacked like that in public.

animals...

And to think they want all cultures living in harmony next to one another... There will never be harmony until some realize they are not civilized.

On a side note, why do women in the media, or on camera, find it necessary to talk with their hands? I’m sure they think it makes them look more dramatic, but it actually makes them look quite unintelligent... Reminds me of a two-bit politician...

From the broad on mythbusters, to anyone in the media... The flailing hands start, I turn the channel and don’t give em another second of my time or thought...

Okay, rant over. Just bugged me this morning more than most I guess...

Not my job meets Seattle Transit.

That said, the attacking girl needs to be put away for the viciousness of her attack. There is no question that the attack was not meant to harm, but to kill.

She should be charged with attempted murder.

But the libs can;t wrap their head around that. Even the woman witness says “The guards should do......pause.....something!” How about, the guards should have intervened just to prevent a murder.

Amazingly, the victim will be just fine. Guess there wasn’t much in that head anyway. Can’t imagine there isn’t long term damage of some kind going on there.

Only in the liberal bastion of Seattle. I assume these “security guards” are liberal girlie-men who always vote for Democrats. Would love to know for sure.

Note to the security guards: if you were really men, you would have helped the poor girl against these thugs regardless of whether or not you were following “company policy.” But were you too scared? Then you should find another job. Incredible.

Their job is to observe and report? A camera will pay for itself in a month or so.

According to their contract, the guards are to "observe and report" problems, not to get involved.

Well, there you go.

Perhaps the citizens of Seattle had a bit of a different idea of the meaning of "security".

Their title and uniforms should be changed to reflect reality: Instead of "security" or "guard", they should simply read: Observer.

Now, don't you feel safer already?

Contract or no contract, basic human decency says someone step in.

“Collective Bargaining” at its best?

And people wonder why America is so screwed up?

I just watched the video. As suspected after reading the article, it was a group of afro-amurcins that did the group beating. That’s how they roll.

By current standards, it is not really their fault.
The guards would have been in violation of their contract if they tried to protect the girl. They would have probably been fired; certainly their employer would have refused to cover medical expenses if they were injured.

I have heard on King 5 that the Seattle Police had instructed the Seattle Metro guards that they are only to “observe and report.” They are not to intervene in any public disturbance. So these bus tunnel “guards” could only watch. Otherwise, they would lose their jobs.

I would have the Police Chief’s head because of this ill-considered policy. I would sue the City of Seattle. They prove that government makes policy to their own benefit. In this case, they were putting Seattle Metro in a bind so that they would be pressured to hire Seattle Police Officers to guard the Metro Tunnel. Because Seattle Metro had insufficient budget for it, they operated with their hands behind their back at the jeopardy of every citizen who walked into that bus tunnel.

How many Metro security guards does it take to stand around and do nothing..? Apparently, at least three.

UPDATE

King County: Armed cops to patrol bus tunnel

http://www.komonews.com/news/84183272.html

Reacting to growing outrage over the beating of a 15-year-old girl in the Seattle bus tunnel, King County officials said armed, uniformed deputies will now be posted in the tunnel during operating hours.

(edit)

King County Executive Dow Constantine said Thursday at least one uniformed, armed deputy will be deployed at each of five tunnel stations as an interim step during a review of the contract with the firm that employs Metro guards.

The beefed-up security measures will take effect Thursday night.

"These new measures will assure transit customers of a police presence that meets their expectations for safety and security in the bus tunnel," Constantine said.
