Thank the Lord, we’re not going to have to worry about Kay.

As for Medina, the only organized Republican leadership that she’s ever had is as County Chair in Wharton County. This is all we have to judge her by.

All I’ve seen is her ability to rebel against the Republican party. This may be a skill that she can call upon in the Texas legislature. However, she’s not had much luck *winning* and I have some legislation I’d like to see passed in 2011.

I know that Governor Perry has stood for the family and for the right to life, over and over. Men and women I know to be honorable serve on his campaign committees. He’s attended the Rally for Life several times, he appointed a good friend to the Committee that wrote the “Woman’s Right to Know” information book, fought to get the language for Parental consent and high standards for verification of the ID of the parent through the Medical Act, when we couldn’t get the Dems to pass anything in ‘05. Even the Gardasil EO, for which he’s taken so much criticism, ordered,

“”Parents’ Rights. The Department of State Health Services will, in order to protect the right of parents to be the final authority on their children’s health care, modify the current process in order to allow parents to submit a request for a conscientious objection affidavit form via the Internet while maintaining privacy safeguards under current law.””

This was to amend the requirement that once a year, parents request the paperwork in writing, to get the official form with a “raised seal.”

I know about my County and I know what I’ve experienced at the State Convention. I don’t know anything about Harris or Tarrant County.

However, what happens in these 3 counties does not change the question about what sort of history Medina has.

Look, I am not saying Perry is the devil incarnate - again I voted for him twice. But, he has betrayed us on spending (wait until the next budget session), taxes, hate crimes, the border, TTC, and other things I have listed. He has been good on the life issue, and that is the main reason I voted for him.

I have no reason to think that there is a disconnect between Medina’s rhetoric and what she would do. With Perry I know that disconnect exists for sure. Moreover, Perry’s duplicity has been so obvious that last time around he only got 39% and pulled the party down with him around the state. About 1/3 of the Republican vote comes from Harris County, and he is responsible for losses here and in Dallas (Tarrant). Our people are losing interest in working for a spender/taxer, special interest pandering phony. Unfortunately, when they won’t work for the top of the ticket, they generally don’t do anything for the down ballot candidates either. Perry is an anchor around our necks.

Dealing with the budget alone in the next session is going to require something completely different from what we have been willing to tolerate. People need to get out this absurd “dues paying”, “experience” mindset. The office holders that that mentality has produced have been a disaster for us. We want principles, courage, and integrity. I think Medina probably has them in far greater measure than Perry. If we nominate Perry again, I’ll vote for him, but I think a Perry candidacy will mean White gets elected.
