(Texas Gov race) In debate with (Farouk) Shami, (Bill) White directs his attention at (Rick) Perry

...White criticized Perry by name or inference six times...

...(Shami) stumbled on the issue of voter identification, inaccurately saying the state requires a driver's license now to vote and he would not support changing the law. The issue that nearly shut down the Legislature last year was a battle over whether to require a photo identification to vote.

White seized on the issue to make another attack on Perry, describing voter identification as a political wedge issue.

“That is a classic illustration of where Governor Perry has brought the partisan politics of Washington to the statehouse,” White said. “Under both George W. Bush and Ann Richards people did work together and got things done.”

...Both White and Shami were stumped on a question of whether women should be required to view a sonogram before receiving an abortion. Both said they would work with the Legislature....

The two differed on several issues, including:

-Death penalty. Shami supported a moratorium on executions. White did not, saying the state should only review cases where questions of innocence exist.

Shami said people have been executed in Texas and then were found to be innocent, though there is no concrete proof that has occurred...

- Gas tax. White opposes a gas tax increase, but Shami supports an 8-cent increase in the tax for highway construction.

- Gas drilling in North Texas. Shami said the drilling should be stopped because of benzene air pollution. White said site-specific monitoring should be done to shut down only those wells that are polluting.

...White said he would set three priorities: public education, higher education and job training for laid off workers. Beyond that he would “scrub the budget” to find savings through efficiencies, claiming to have done so with the city of Houston's budget.

Houston PING

Bill White has made it clear his only competition in 2010 is the GOP. The RINOs on the GOP ballot (all of them) are drawing blood and White has yet to face any challenge.

Texas, Feb 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Farouk Shami, the Democratic businessman, has showed some ray of hope in these current times of crisis. Running for the post of the Governor, he has promised that if elected, he would be creating about 100,000 new jobs. He also claimed that he would be making electricity free for all, and also that he would be enacting a moratorium on the death penalty. The declarations were made in a verbal match between the two candidates running for the post of the Governor, Farouk Shami and Bill White, the Democrat who had formerly been the Mayor of Houston for three consecutive terms.

-Death penalty. Shami supported a moratorium on executions

That's pretty ironic coming from a Muslim.

Gas drilling in North Texas. Shami said the drilling should be stopped because of benzene air pollution.

Good luck with that one! LOL!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Media ad:

“Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?” (Medina’s cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)

She told a colleague last month in an e-mail. “Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.” But before she explained that, she told my colleage, who had asked her whether she considers herself Latina: “I’d not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.”

No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.

She is also running Spanish ads. Hello Mrs.Medina! If they cannot speak English then they have no business voting IMO. When they learn English then let them vote. Assimilate. Learn English. Appreciate all America gives you.

So I’m sure she is blowing a lot of hot air just like Obama did just to get elected. Running those ads and saying what she has, tells me the border issue is just a try to get votes for herself.

No, thanks, I’ll stick with ‘ol RINO Perry. Texas has remained in better shape than almost any if not all of the states in the union under Perry's watch. As someone said, 'he's the devil we know'.

The motly crew running for governor is laughable; a MUSLIM, a trecherous RINO woman* (Hutchison) and a woman with questionable loyalties

*Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress “One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.”

Bill White has made it clear his only competition in 2010 is the GOP.

Appears he is thinking that Perry will be the GOP challenger for him. I agree he doesn’t have competition that will keep him from winning the ‘crat primary.

Medina’s hinted that she’ll run third party if she doesn’t win the GOP bid.

White has a better chance in a 3 way race in November.

Kinky Friedman might’ve at least called out Mr. White on some things but Jim Hightower “explained” it to him and he dropped out. He’s a sell out (as became apparent in his previous run for governor).
