I should say that my first post dealt more with the overreaching of the Dept. of Homeland Security. The FEDS seem to be taking over everything - at least as I’ve noticed lately. Without taking too much time to explain I’ve run into three situations this week alone - one with taxes, one with banks, and one with my doctor’s office. All are requiring photocopies of my DL or ID for services I need done, but all three for different Federal Laws!
I understand I was irresponsible in not keeping mine current (I don’t drive). However, it has opened my eyes to how many things our identification is used to keep track of things due to Federal Laws. That said, here is what I have had trouble with and why...
1. Cannot file my taxes through H&R Block or apply for a Rapid Refund* without a Photo ID, even though we’ve done taxes through this office for 5 years now, and have never had a problem until this year. They office managers said it was due to the Patriot Act? Perhaps because it’s a lot of money we’re getting back?
2. Went to the DMV (showed my LONG FORM BIRTH CERTIFICATE, Marriage License, Social Security Card, and a gas/electric bill for proof of address, as well as a doctor’s bill, and a bank statement — I’d like to see Obama do that! ROFL). Anyway, it was no problem getting my ID, but a new Federal Law necessitates that instead of receiving the photo ID at the point of service, since I am over 18 they have to mail it to me - to be received in 5-7 days, presumably to cut down on fraud?
I have a receipt now with my ID# on it, but without a photo it’s no good, really. (Plus, it looks like I could’ve produced it on my home computer - no letterhead so it’s kind of useless in some ways)
3. Tomorrow I’m going to see my back doctor. I’ve been going to this medical center for 3-4 years now for my back. I was informed that they will also need a copy of a photo ID even though they took a picture of me to include with my file 2 years ago - now they need a State Issued ID due to a new law enforced by the Federal Trade Commission? I’m assuming it’s due to the clinic also having pain specialists employed along with the Orthopedic Surgeons, but I don’t know the exact law, or why... I can only assume that since it’s trade it has to do with Pharmaceuticals.
Anyway, these things all came into effect within the last 6 mos. or so, AFAIK. Thought it was a little odd, not that I might not agree in some cases it’s a good idea. And, most of the “problem” is because of my own irresponsibility in letting my id expire... If I hadn’t it’d be no big deal and not so stressing... Just a little odd — especially the FTC situation with my doctor.
**Please spare the comments about costs & fees through Tax Prep services everyone, I know - it’s not like I have never done our taxes myself. This is an emergency situation this year (medical bills & lost work) due to our daughter being sick and us still not having anything to spare after using our savings when our husband was off work for about 6-7 months last year...). It always seems we are low on money this time of year, and I’m happy with knowing I don’t have to worry about problems of any kind, really - it’s worth it for us most years...)
I’m assuming DHS has a local office there in Madison due to it being the Capitol, and a big university town. Too much time on this office’s hands, or do we know that the orders came down from above.
Is Madison for conservatives still like living in Berkely? I probably would’ve loved going there for school when I was still idealistic and outspoken, would NOT like living there now for the most part... Except if some of the awesome record stores were still there... :)
Have to say I am grateful for UW’s Medical System. They saved my Mom’s life back in 1988 when my Mom needed a kidney transplant so I support their educational and other efforts as a fine institution. This whole debacle over abortion put a black mark on their reputation for me, but with the liberals in our educational system it wasn’t surprising.
Also not surprising if it was the local DHS office looking at Americans vs. questionable college-age and other “subversive” individuals who might be here on student visas. I would think that would be more effective, and a better use of tax dollars!
Is the cheif voted into office? If so he or she must go.

The modern Democrat party has a 40 year association with violent terrorists who plotted to overthrow governments in the US and Puerto Rico and they take their eyes off of the threat posed by domestic Communists and international jihadists to profile Catholics who “cling to religion”.
To Condor 51 and FRpers: The Chicago lawsuit against the Chicago PD was brought by a combination of Communist Party members/ fronts, and support groups (many of Obama’s friends were in the Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights - a CPUSA front(see the latest www.newzeal.blogspot.com report), the broader CP/National Lawyers Guild Alliance to Defend Democracy (may not be the totally correct name), and the ACLU.
The key issue re the Wisconsin surveillance is twofold:
One: Did it violate the DHS guidelines? Yes. Need to know why.
Two: Even MORE IMPORTANT is the question of whether the DHS knows who to watch as actual or potential enemies of the US. Active support for, or secondary support for terrorist groups and their fronts, and communist groups and their fronts should qualify them for surveillance but in the LA 8 case, selling papers that supported a marxist terrorist group in the Middle East, PFLP, wasn’t enough for a conviction. It might today, but with Holder as Att. Gen., who never know who he will go after except for conservatives.
There are literally hundreds of support groups for various communist parties/groups, many with international ties to surpra-marxist organizations and countries, as well as pro-Hamas, Hezbullah, PLO, Somalia jihadists, etc.
THE QUESTION IS WHETHER THE GOVT IS EVEN AWARE OF THESE GROUPS, AND IF SO, ARE THE UNDER SURVEILLANCE?
Napolitano is so incompetent that she makes Neville Chamberlain seem like a genius.
The first rule of defense is to “know your enemy.” Obviously the DHS/Napolitano and the Obama Administration think that loyal Americans are the “enemy.”
After assuming that this is how they think, everything else they do or don’t do, falls into place.
PS: While the Chicago police and other departments often cannot film protests, they can accept unsolicited photos and materials from concerned citizens.
Back in the 70’s/80’s, a newsletter I was the Assoc. Editor of, went free to 500 police departments and helped to fill in their intelligence files on the Left. We got thanked for providing the information that they and the FBI were not allowed to collect.
You can make a difference if you keep your eyes and ears open, and your cameras loaded with film.

Corrie endured something like a year in solitary confinement in a Nazi concentration camp prison. All the rest of her family died in that concentration camp - punishment for harboring Jews and helping them escape the Nazi’s.
By a miracle of God, Corrie was freed - to tell her story.
I have always felt a connection with her story... maybe this is why. Who knows?
If anyone reading this is concerned about the future - especially given these latest revelations which are not surprising at all to anyone who has been half way paying attention - please please please get Corrie’s books! and get a Bible - and start learning scripture - God will help you!

That was my thought too. They must not realize how fervent we pro-life people are...and none of us are afraid of Obama.
This is an example of why I keep arguing with people who insist that other Americans would not fire on us if we ever took up arms to put an end to this BS that law enforcement and even our military will indeed follow orders to stop us and will fire weapons on us. So many have forgotten Ruby Ridge and Waco. If Holder and Napolitano sent their jackbooted thugs in against us, they would not stand down in the face of their countrymen (us), nor would many of our military should zero cancel Posse Comitatus with a stroke of the pen (although he doesn’t really have to because, unknown to many people including FReepers, there’s a nullifying exemption to Posse Comitatus in the case of insurrection) and send in military forces to quell an “insurrection”.
It happened in Germany, Hungary, Russia, Vietnam, China, Iran, Venezuela, El Salvador and so many other countries - countryman turning on countryman, just following orders.
