Columbia College is the Ivy League undergraduate school. It is a very small Liberal Arts College on the Columbia U. Morningside ZHeights Campus.

There is also Columbia University School of General Studies whihere people went in and out, and got a General Studies degree, not a BA.

I must admist, the whole thing is very bizarre.

Actually Columbia College is the undergraduate liberal arts division of Columbia University. The School of General Studies of Columbia University was created specifically for returning and nontraditional students “seeking a rigorous, traditional, Ivy League undergraduate degree full- or part-time.”

The original school founded in 1754 was chartered as “King’s College” and changed its name in 1784 to Columbia College. In 1896 Columbia College changed its name to Columbia University after having added a law school, granting other post-graduate degrees including the Ph.D. and also adding other schools and colleges to the original liberal arts college known as Columbia College.

The School of General Studies of Columbia University is also home to the oldest and largest Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program in the United States.
The degree one gets from Columbia University’s School of General Studies is either a Bachelor of Arts degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies.

From the Columbia School of General Studies website:

Following World War II and aiming to meet the needs of returning G.I.s, University Extension was restructured and designated the School of General Studies in 1947. The college began awarding Bachelor of Arts degrees in 1968.
