VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)Cypress Mountain passed a major test Monday, as freestyle skiers completed their first pre-Olympic practice sessions and Winter Olympic organizers kept dumping snow on competition courses in unseasonably warm weather.
Its absolutely fine, World Cup champion Hannah Kearney said after her training runs. Its as if there was no problem.
Trucks and helicopters still were dumping snow onto the mountain in an effort to get the Olympic venues ready for the Vancouver Games, which open Friday.

Kearney: Ive skied on rocks, Ive skied on ice, Ive skied in the rain. This is nothing,
Not exactly encouraging news because at this rate they will HAVE to ski on rocks.
A stockpile of snow brought in by helicopter waits to be spread at the site on the Cypress Mountain where the Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding Winter Olympic events will be held, north of Vancouver, on February 6. Come to the east coast, we have record snowstorms here in MD, think 30”. Take all you want.
Piled so high the Bobcats need to raise the bucket to the top to dump. Another 8-12 predicted for tomorrow.
I’m glad we never got hit by the 35’ storms that closed down the passes west of Reno.
In my part of Maryland they are now saying 10-20” for tomorrow. My Dad’s neighbor is a meteorologist for the NWS and he says 16-24”. I don’t know where I am going to put another 2 feet of snow on top of the 30” that I just piled up in my yard.
Just move the winter olympics to your yard!!!!
What’s the going price of snow per yard up there? And how much extra for helicopter delivery?
How about mud?
