I don’t know about your area, but I suspect they felt free to mouth off like that because so many Canadians wouldn’t defend America, and, sadly, would even agree.
I was stunned at the number of people I spoke with (actually got into rather heated discussions with) after 911, defending our neighbours. People are such sheep.

Sorry. I don't agree with that assessment. I think Canadians can be as fair minded as any . History has shown they can stand up for what is right when needed .
The boycott of that gas station was conducted by hundreds of strangers , there was no organization . Individuals made a decision on their own to buy elsewhere , even if it mean waiting in line . Barrhaven is the bedroom for the Ottawa civil service, Ottawa in 2001 was home to a liberal government. They if anyone , should fit your description. And by their actions , they don't.
Now Lizze May's greenies and Taliban Jack's ndpers are a different bunch. They're not ignorant , just stupid.
What those people fail to realize is that if the US goes, Canada is next. What makes them think that muslims would spare them?
