The Kenyan Klod’s space accomplishments directly parallel his ability in anything complex (e.g., technical).
Why’d you think he went into law and politics?

It’s for the best - this government would just screw it up by cutting corners and kill a lot of astronauts in the process. Other nations may be better positioned to carry the flag of humanity forward into space than this bloated welfare state.

Makes me wonder if killing the US Space Program wasn’t another concession to China so they will keep funding the Obama deficits. It’s no secret that China is planning a moon mission by 2020 and doesn’t want their “triumph” eclipsed by United States. In other words, Obama literally gave China the sun and moon...

Looks like it may be time for the private sector to start picking up more of the slack. NASA opened the way, now its our turn.

One of my favorite books as a kid was “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress”. Gotta wonder what is going to happen with China sitting uncontested at the top of a huge gravity well.

“Looks like it may be time for the private sector to start picking up more of the slack. NASA opened the way, now its our turn.”
Private sector is a very slow process - China, India, Russia et al will have long been on the Moon before anything above LEO becomes profitable enough to justify the risk and provide a healthly return.
We will be an Earth-bound nation busy printing trillion dollar notes so people can buy a loaf of bread when they get to the head of the line on alternate days - al la USSR.
With the demise of education, there will be no one to do the engineering in those private sector busineess.
