I don't think that they want to do that.
I do believe that there would be a human wave of men, woman and children that would descend onto Capitol Hill armed to the teeth. So they just wouldn't have to deal with Texas but individuals and groups of individuals from the border states with D.C. and all those that will flock here to take back our country.
I don't know how realistic that is (maybe just fantasy land) but it is something that the leftist in Congress needs to keep in mind here.
This wouldn't be a war between the states but a war of the people against its government.
There are a LOT more PEOPLE than government so they better tread lightly.

Obama would have to give the order to fire on and kill hundreds of thousands of US citizens at that point. If he did...how do I put this nicely?......since we are still speaking hypothetically...his ability to expel CO2 would be compromised. At that point I doubt the Union would survive.

I’m sure there are plans for that already. The “people in the streets” problem is perhaps the easiest for a government to solve.
Much harder is the one where they get voted out, or their party becomes slowly infiltrated by people who hold to the ideals of their enemies.
Also hard is when their political enemies have military power, popular support, and the ability to plan for a conflict and communicate effectively during said conflict. The “popular support” is probably the biggest issue, since the government can see to it that the TV is dark and supermarket empty.
