Prince of Wales says he has been abused for his green views
telegraph.co.uk ^ | Feb. 4, 2010 | Louise Gray

The Prince of Wales has hit back at the "unbelievable abuse" he has suffered for his green views on architecture, farming and health.

In a wide ranging speech on the need for a "greener economy", the Prince said he has been fighting all his life for a more holistic and sustainable way of living.

But he said many of his ideas on health care and agriculture have been met with "huge defensiveness" and have even been described as "dangerous" or "positively evil".

The Prince has been criticised by doctors for promoting alternative medicine such as homeopathy. He was described as a "Luddite" by a Labour MP for his warning that genetically modified (GM) crops could cause an environmental disaster, while his views on organic farming were labelled "backward". Leading architecht Lord Foster recently said the Prince "abused his power" for intervening over the development of Chelsea Barracks.

He was also ridiculed for saying plants respond to being talked to.

But the Prince said problems like climate change and the depletion of natural resources will not be tackled by modern technology alone. He said he has always challenged the "conventional" view by looking more to nature, despite the criticism.

"We have to face these issues which is why I battle so hard in this area despite the unbelievable abuse that is heaped on me every time I open my mouth. All I can hope is when I am dead it will be appreciated what I was trying to do. At the end of the day what is the point of all this technology if we lose our souls and lose the soul of nature which we are part of?"

I agree with him on all the architecture stuff.

Turns out, it's an enormous solar oven. Without air conditioning, you could literally cook hot dogs in the place just by setting them on the window sills. So the entire building is air conditioned to the max 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

In principle, I am in favor of "eco-friendly" architecture, but in actual practice, anything designed to make a politician feel good will probably have negative unexpected consequences.

The best arbiter of how "eco-friendly" something actually is, is cost. The less something costs, the less land, labor and capital it took to produce that thing. So you could create an "eco-friendly" building simply by asking for the one which would cost the least to build and maintain for 20 years, than you could with 10,000 pages of regulations about window panes and toilet seats and such.

In Phoenix, we have a courthouse that was built to be "Green". It is designed with lots of windows to let in the maximum amount of natural light, so that it uses fewer light bulbs.

Referring to a proposed modern extension to the National Gallery: "What is proposed is like a monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much-loved and elegant friend." Prince Charles

"It would seem, however, that the emergent climate-change agenda seems to have offered licence to another generation of architects and designers bent on further divorcing us - through random and untested building shapes and types - from our deeply-rooted connection with Nature's ordering systems which remain true to the rule of climate and season." Prince Charles

"Why, I must ask, does being 'green' mean building with glass and steel and concrete and then adding wind turbines, solar panels, water heaters, glass atria - all the paraphernalia of a new "green building industry" - to offset buildings that are inefficient in the first place?" Prince Charles

"You have to give this much to the Luftwaffe: when it knocked down our buildings it did not replace them with anything more offensive than rubble. We did that." Prince Charles

One of my favorite architecture quotes, but not Prince Charles: "In my experience, if you have to keep the lavatory door shut by extending your left leg, it's modern architecture." Nancy Banks Smith

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. - Proverbs 17:28

Chuck is an idiot. No wonder the Queen is trying to groom William as her successor.

Royal blood lines have narrowed the gene pool for intelligence so much there weren’t any ‘smart DNA’ left for Chuck.

It’s funny the way inheritance sometimes works. Queen Elizabeth is an admirable woman. Intelligent, hard-working, sensible. Charles’s sons also seem to have their heads screwed on straight, so they evidently inherited some of their grandmother’s gifts of character.

As for Charles . . . .

Did he do LSD or something?

Oh pooor poor Prince! GEEZ, grow up dude. The first rule of public life is that if you put yourself out there and air your views someone is not going to like them. Two choices: get over it or shut up about your views.

You’re abused, Chuck, because millions of people recognize you as a clueless moonbat.

You married a woman you didn’t love (Diana), played with that young girl’s affection and used her as a baby factory and then tossed her aside after she gave you two sons, while you carried on with that creepy Camilla.

I’m surprised the British tolerated Chuck all these years.

the only thing more ludicrous than limousine liberal is a Gulfstream environmentalist

Rich people like Prince Charles know that conservatives won't loot their stuff in anger and kill them in spite, it's the Democrat mob voters they need to appease and pay lip service to. And the rich like that Democrats are willing to don knee-pads and give homage to keep free trinkets coming.

While struggling by on the income from a BILLION DOLLAR estate one can just imagine how he suffers while living his sustainable, green, holistic, lifestyle.
Not a bit of it, Charles!
