If you were born in San Antonio, you might not want to say so out loud.
That might be 'racist.'
In one of the more bizarre attacks yet in the 2010 race for governor, 1200 WOAI news reports Democrat Farouk Shami, a Houston hair care products millionaire is blasting claims in an ad being run by fellow Democrat Bill White.
In his latest ads, designed to build statewide name recognition for the three term Houston mayor, White says he was 'born in San Antonio, the son of schoolteachers.'
Shami, during a campaign event in McAllen Thursday night, said that comment is 'racist,' and a 'backhanded swipe' at Shami's ethnic roots.
Shami was born in Ramallah, in Palestine north of Jerusalem.
A spokesman for White calls Shami's claims 'ridiculous.'
Racier?
Isn't that like a diode or something? ;)
But who is the racisist of all?
Well his name is “White”. Good grief.

We are supposed to believe that there is no difference in the life experiences, assumptions, beliefs and background of someone who was born in San Antonio and someone who was born in Ramallah? Sorry, I am not buying that, and if that is racist, so be it. This Palestinian has come to our country, Texas no less, and is trying to dictate what can and cannot be said (said, as in freedom of speech) in a governor’s race. That, in and of itself, ought to be enough to disqualify him.
“trying to dictate what can and cannot be said (said, as in freedom of speech) in a governors race. That, in and of itself, ought to be enough to disqualify him.”
I so strongly agree with you! I hope he gets minus numbers in the vote. What a stupid, stupid, man...he could have raised his numbers by simply saying “I am a CERTIFIED American” and it would have been true. Glad he is so stupid that he shown what he is early in the game. Loser!!
Is it not racist to deny your own upbringing in Ramallah?
If your opponent says he is from San Antonio, why would you not counter with where you were born?
Methinks he doeth protest overmuch.
If you ask me, being called “racist” is a resume enhancer.
Politically, I have reached the point that I won’t vote a politician unless he has been called racist, sexist, and/or homophobic at some point in the campaign. (It also helps if he’s condemned by the Brady Bunch and other anti-gun groups...)
If a politician hasn’t managed to offends race pimps, feminazis, and/or the pervert lobbies then he either lacking in courage or principles. In either case, he’s not suited for office.
I suppose it works both ways; the Kossaks and DUmmies probably won’t vote for anyone who hasn’t been accused of being a socialist or a commie.
The “Palistine - Jerusalem is Ours” keffiyeh scarf wearing muslim shampoo guy proudly stated in his tv campaign ad and dozens of newspaper announcements that he was closing his plants in China to move thousands of jobs to Texas. He claimed it was a miscommunication when it was found out the plant was in S. Korea. Those jobs still haven’t made it to Texas, but if they do, he’s for amnesty and will be giving those supposed jobs to illegals.
This is what happens when lib rats move to Texas.
Texas would elect a foreign born muslim as governor? Wow.
Yawn. Another professionally offended muslim.
Proposed revision of the Miranda Rights.
“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be considered Racist and used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney because you will be condemned and sued by some liberal lawyer representing a counter Racist injured person or group. If you cannot afford an attorney, too bad. An attorney will be appointed to you only if and when you have the finances to afford one. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you? If not, it just proves you really are, as charged, a Redneck, Illiterate, Racist.”
No, we won’t.
HELL NO!!!!
Earth shatteringly shocking; except that, even you don't believe that.
The Muzzie’s problem isn’t racism.
Could it just be “I’m a NATIVE BORN Texan, and he’s not” sort of ploy....it does carry a lot of weight in Texas.
Texans are “proud” of being from Texas. Some will boast of how long their family has been in Texas.
It is a deliberate detail. I don’t recall Bill White ever mentioning San Antonio heritage when he ran for mayor 3 times (after coming back to Texas from Clinton’s Washington DC administration).
He knows his opponent (he’s already ruled out that he is even running against anyone else in the primary, the others didn’t get invites to the debate) can’t make the same claim.
BTW, there is a Palestine,Texas.
