In Kirk’s farewell, a call for return to unity of Kennedy era
The Boston Globe ^ | February 5, 2010 | Susan Milligan

WASHINGTON - Paul Kirk said a poignant goodbye yesterday to the Senate, invoking the memory of the man he briefly replaced, Edward M. Kennedy, as he implored his colleagues to adopt Kennedy’s bipartisan spirit and get to work on fixing the nation’s problems.

But the Senate Kirk holds dearly in his memories no longer exists, the Massachusetts Democrat lamented as he completed his last day in office. And the audience for his farewell Senate address provided a brutal punctuation for his remarks: not a single Republican, senator nor staff worker, showed up.

For the last 80 years we have bi-partisanly co-operated ourselves into bankruptcy. It's time for an old fashioned fully-partisan ass-kicking of a house cleaning.

Government needs to shrink, pensions and benefits need to be cut, regulations need to be cut, taxes need to be reduced, and there needs to be 100% turnover at both ends of Pennsylvania avenue. There are a lot of judges taht need to go too.

adopt Kennedy’s bipartisan spirit

I cannot think of a single thing of Mr Kennedy’s that I would adopt. Least of all this mythical bipartisan spirit.

The comments are the best part of this article. Only 2 that support the Dems! On Boston.com no less! If Massachusetts is waking to the fact that the Dems are to blame for our situation, the rest of the country is getting into war mode. November will hopefully vindicate Conservatives. I just hope it comes in time to save our country.

These freakin’ democrap fools are pathetic. Nobody cares about that fat slob Ted and on top of that the American people are rejecting the new Communist Democrat Party.

Why does Mr, Kirk think the Fat Ted seat is going to a Republican?

For people that profess how super intelligent and enlightened they are, they seem to be feeble minded dullwits.

May a thousand pigeons take an Obama on every Kennedy grave.

Each day.

For the next millenium.

You can say that again! You'd think from the comments that pretty much only FReepers read boston.com . . . well, nobody else much is, by all indications! ;-)

implored his colleagues to adopt Kennedy’s bipartisan spirit

Kennedy's only appeal for bipartisanship was when he attempted a high tech lynching of Judge Thomas. He's dead, and were I in DC, I'd pee on his headstone.

“...bipartisan spirit...”

That means that the Democrats get to do whatever they want, say whatever they want, call whomever they want a nazi, spend whatever monies they want, create whatever slush funds they want, destroy the characters of Republican nominees for whatever positions, behave like adolescent macho scu&bags who were never toilet trained, worship at the leftist altar of social justice, appoint themselves
the superior, intellectual god-like saviours of mankind...and the list goes on, ad nauseum.

Don’t let the door hit you in the posterior Mr. Hateful Socialist. It is hoped that you and your friends are destroyed at the polls in November, 2010; that is, unless you all strike a deal with all those “brilliant”, “intellectual”, self-appointed, superior independents out there.

IMHO

Paul Kirk is Reid’s toilet brush. Snot-nosed, condescending, mentally ill (i.e. progressive), nasty. The very flower of the Democrat Party.
