On this day in 1789, 69 members of Congress cast their ballots to elect George Washington the first president of the United States.
Congress did not elect George Washington, the Electoral College did. A major error in the first sentence. I'll let someone else go through this and pick out the other errors. I won't waste more time on this.

In the Federalist Papers (No. 68), Alexander Hamilton refers to the process of selecting the Executive, and refers to “the people of each State (who) shall choose a number of persons as electors,” but he does not use the term “electoral college.”
