Head of beloved deer was found in defendant's freezer.

The man who admitted killing Harris County Precinct 3's beloved tame deer known as “Mr. Buck” was sentenced to 18 months in state jail today.

Brandon Eugene Gregory, 24, had pleaded guilty last August to a felony charge of taking a wildlife resource without landowner consent.

The November 2008 killing and mutilation of Mr. Buck shocked animal lovers across the Houston area. The 8- to 10-point buck, which lived at Bear Creek Pioneers Park's wildlife sanctuary, was comfortable around people and let park visitors scratch his chin.

Gregory told investigators he jumped the fence that night, was charged by the deer when he was about 15 feet away from the animal. He said that after the deer pinned him to the ground with his antlers, he stabbed the animal with a knife. He later used the knife and bone saw to sever the deer's head.

I stand by what I said. The deer was harmless, the POS that killed it was deliberately evil. A-holes like this make legitimate hunters look bad. It’s too bad the buck didn’t kill him. Anyway, deer are goats, not rats. :>)

Thanks, I just get so tired of people who think we devalue human life when we punish criminals that illegally kill animals. If their beef is we don’t punish people enough for murdering people, I am all for making those sentences tougher including the death penalty. The real beef they have is they should be pushing for tougher laws against people who murder or criminally injure other people. It’s misdirected criticism.

Trespassing at night to commit a crime can get one killed in Texas. Poachers and rustlers probably ought to stay up north.

Thank you. You've done a superb job in illustrating my point. Again, thank you!

Take the "animal" out of it. This guy criminally trespassed onto fenced private land, destroyed private property, and then stole a portion of that private property for his own use. The fact that it was an animal is irrelevant...the guy is a thief and a trespasser, and deserves to be in jail.

Good point. My fault for not reading fully or more carefully. I didn't realize there was trespassing involved.

You’re quite welcome. I’m only sorry it took you four days to think of a response. I suppose defending lowlife criminals takes some time.

Don't flatter yourself, slick. Some of us actually have lives, and don't spend the weekend online.

That said, you're such a great example of a person with screwed-up values that I simply couln't resist a reply. Note, however, this is the last reply you warrant.

Thanks, again!

Well, I see you ate your own words and apologized in post #25, so I guess my work is done here.

You didn't do anything. I stated that my agreement that animals should be treated like property, and as such fines should be warranted for their destruction or theft by non-owners.

YOU said that the deer was more valuable than the human who killed it.

You are still wrong, and you can't change that fact. You are also ignorant, however, which you can change by simply admitting you're wrong, shutting your mouth, and listening to people who actually possess an intellect.

I thought you said you weren’t going to reply any more. I guess you had a few insults left, like most liberals.

This lowfife’s life has no value, and he should get life. That deer was more valuable than the POS that killed it.

Are you nuts or just pretending?

I’m pretending, but the lowlife still deserves jail time.

I agree with that. We have 2 does who are pretty much pets living on the farm. That being said I never equate an animal life with a human life...ever. People who do just hate people, plain and simple.
