LVMS invites President Obama to see Las Vegas from new perspective (NASCAR)

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is inviting the President to see firsthand how visiting Las Vegas for entertainment is a boon to the economy. LVMS president Chris Powell is inviting President Barack Obama to be the grand marshal for the Shelby American NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Feb. 28 [FYI - he would replace current Grand Marshal Kim Kardashian if the President chose to attend]. The invitation comes less than 24 hours after the president told a gathering in New Hampshire that Americans shouldn't "blow a bunch of cash on Vegas" during the current economic climate. "It's a shame that the president doesn't realize the impact of tourism on the Las Vegas economy," Powell said. "Telling people not to visit Las Vegas is the same as telling them not to buy vegetables would be to a farmer in the Midwest - or telling them not to buy cars would be to an autoworker in Detroit. On the last weekend of this month, NASCAR Weekend at the speedway will bring in more than $150 million to the local economy. It will generate 3,000 jobs at the speedway alone. Hotels in town have reduced room rates. We've reduced ticket prices. And the races themselves will be a showcase of American knowhow and ingenuity. I would love to have the president come to Las Vegas Motor Speedway during NASCAR Weekend and see firsthand how important tourism is to our community. We'll even let him give the command to start engines. NASCAR Weekend is the largest sporting event in Nevada, and the 300,000 people who visit here during the weekend will surpass any event in Las Vegas in 2010."(LVMS)(2-4-2010)

Liberals should not attend NASCAR events unless they are prepared to be booed.

It would be more fun if the so-called deathwatch MSM were to start calling like it is.

Oh, good grief! First, the Super Bowl. Now, NASCAR. Did NJ, VA, and MA now communicate to these people either?

Didn’t the mayor of LV say he’d chase Obama back to DC if he showed up?

Obama at NASCAR would be like Dukakis in a tank, I’d buy tickets to see POTUS at the track. Um, what POTUS has been to NASCAR? I think there was one.

Thin skinned Zero couldn’t take it a NASCAR race. As loud as the engines are the booing would drown them out. No way this happens.

Maybe he and Felix Sabates can do a few laps around the track in the back of an open pickup.

Just checking temps.. I post that week.

Re: Obama, the auto industry killer

Should we outright cancel the race thread or just boycott watching that week?

Or ask that Ray LaHood be the pace car driver, make it a Camry that hasn’t been thru the recall fix?

Reagrdless..

Being able to personally BOO the Obama would be well worth the price of admission.

NASCAR fans will definitely be hostile. Obama’s anti corporate/ anti business policy is a threat to every sponsorship that supports NASCAR.

Obama as Grand Marshall at a NASCAR race is like Michael Moore giving the keynote speech at a Weight Watchers convention.

Obummer would like seeing a NASCAR race in Vegas just for all the left turns. But he would disappointed that the winner is not appointed.

I’ll have to give this one some thought because the first thing that comes to mind, will get me thrown in jail.

Yesterday we received our confirmation from Primeir Sports that are package to LVMS is a go & all tickets, itineraries, and information have been mailed.

Obama won’t show - his ego won’t allow booing by 80 thousand race fans.

Besides that he wouldn’t be allow to race or drive the pace car.
