I had a Spanish professor in college who was from South America, and he was a very dignified gentleman, with old-world manners. One day he began talking about Latin American culture, and he somehow veered off on a tangent regarding lonely shepards and poor farmers and their burros. No one had any idea what he was talking about until he allowed as how the church might forgive these men because of the circumstances and their backward traditions. Slowly then the light came on, and the room began to fill with giggles and muffled laughter.

And I’ve always heard why those sheep herders wore hip boots, before that joke was told on the movie CABLE HOGUE.

That is, unless you are of the brokeback Mountain persuasion when the sheep get rest but the Rams are nervous.;-)
