I would like to tie a ribbon on each but I don't want to break etiquette.

Put up whatever you want to put up. She's your daughter, and she's putting her life on the line for the rest of us. Thank you both.

I'd suggest that whatever you do choose to put up, should be maintained and replaced as necessary to keep a respectful and respectable appearance.

On the issue of replacing tattered flags. The American Legion as mentioned before is a great place to take them, so is the US Post Office, or the the BoyScouts. My CubScouts are doing a Flag retirement this weekend, we have been dismantling flags for weeks. The goal was to retire 100 flags for the 100 years of Scouts, we ended up with nearly 200. Some of them were in really bad shape. I encourage you to attend a flag retirement if you have never done so. It is good to see the patriotism in those young men, some as young as 7 years old. I will post photos on FR next week.
