“I don’t care if they watch it” he said without missing a beat. “I just want them to know about it.”

Well I don't even care to know about it. A day may come when we have to buy news reports like we rent movies over the web, but that's far preferable to wasting money on cable or broadcast television programming that I'll never watch You can't escape sexuality in comedy or drama, but the titillating quickly becomes very tiring unless that's all you're capable of thinking about. It is just one of the same old formulas that tv producers have been abusing for decades now.

This is coming from an adult however. The media is desperately looking for viewers, especially among the young and naive. Fortunately, youth are the least captive audience.

“Well I don’t even care to know about it.”

This is part of the problem. It has been this disconnect, indifference, and to some degree, ignorant view of the media that has allowed this level of debauchery to become the norm.

“Fortunately, youth are the least captive audience.”

The issue isn’t about “captive”. The issue concerns what the youth are watching. A perusal through popular film and television programs drawing a young audience speaks volumes. This fact coupled with the assault on our children on the academic front reveals the answer to why American’s societal/political/economic landscape looks the way it does today.
